Sounds tedious, but if them 2 stay in for any real length of time a draw is the only real possible outcome.

Doesn't seem to have captured anybody's interest over there. When it started there was only 54 fans in the stadium!

Typical England. Always play for the draw away from home thanks to boring negative cook

Far from it, he's scoring at a similar rate to Malik really, the pitch is cack and there's very little pace in it, so scoring at a decent rate is not going to be easy. Pakistan scored 500 from 5 and a half sessions, England have so far had 3 and a half sessions and scored just about 300, there's not a great deal in the scoring rates.

Nice to see a CUFC shirt out there, interestingly next to a Exeter one who we play this weekend!

Pitch is dull. dull. dull. Good from England really to be able to field for 2 days in the heat and concentrate for the batting, but brilliant from Cook. People may look at it as negative but every test side needs an opener who can occupy the crease and score big then allow others to play around him. Tomorrow we have Root, Bairstow, Stokes etc who will naturally score at a good pace so the innings has been set perfectly by Cook.

Pitches like this wont help the game but exactly the same if was held in Pakistan. Slow, low, hopefully more turn but relaying on big 1st innings to put teams under pressure

Can't see how you can call Cook "negative" mate. He's scored 150+ runs.

Geoffrey Boycott would still be on 14. :S

How long did it take him to score them? Chasing a declaration with how many days to go? Negative cook, playing for a draw

Seeing as he's just come from a home summer that he's either won or lost each test. He's the most negative, boring player I've known to grace the game. Stands in the field with a face like bad fat thinking of how to change it, and by time he's cheered up the games over

Bloody Pakistani's slow timing cost us in the end.

I'd keep my head down if I were you pal. Classic England, playing for a draw, scoring at 7 runs an over!

All I can say is you can't have been watching cricket for very long? How old are you , 15, 20?

Boycott, Tavare, Ken Mackay, May and Cowdrey v Sonny Ramadhin padding up outside leg stump, Test cricket for years and years at 2 runs an over, Kirsten, Nayyar, Hanif Mohammed, Nadkarni, Bobby Simpson, Jackie McGlew, Glenn Turner, Mike Atherton, Bill Lawry, Kepler Wessels, India v Pakistan.............

A bit harsh on Atherton there as he captained a very poor team and he dragged them to the few decent results they got the battle between him and Donald v SA one of the best bits of test cricket ever imo

I'd agree with your comments about Atherton, Zebby. Just a response to the comments about Cook being boring. With today's crash, bang wallop T20 etc many view Test cricket as boring, which i don't - most of the time. Playing a long, battling innings to save the game can be just as interesting IMO but many would disagree.

Atherton has to be one of the most unlucky cricketers of all time! Look at the bowlers he had to face during his career: Old enough to have batted against Alderman, Marshall and Hadlee in test cricket and went through a career facing Ambrose, Walsh, Wasim and Waqar, McGrath, Donald, Pollack - plus spinners like Warne, Murali, Mustaq and Kumble, Even New Zealand had Chris Cairns. No tests against Bangladesh, 5 against Zimbabwae. No wonder his test average wasn't that great.

Poor bloke must look at some of the attacks that Cook has faced over the years and feel like crying!

Cook seems to cop a lot of stick regarding his captaincy and I have to admit I wasn't a fan of it however last couple of years he has been much more pro active and has grown into the role at times showing excellent decision making and field placement and can hardly be described as negative as well as being one Englands all time great batsmen

Shame ran out of light yesterday it would have gone down as one the more remarkable wins for many a year

Yesterday reminded me of Graham Thorpe in Pakistan in 2000, that was superb, imagine being one of the 12 fans there that day...

Us winning in the dark in Karachi is still one of my my favourite england sporting moments, Bucknor telling their keeper/captain too stop moaning and keep bowling was brilliant!

As said above people may say Cook was dull/negatice/boring but this is test cricket in asia. its what you need to do to be successful. The ashes no one was prepared to dig in and fight for their team to make a score, meaning the game went along at a quick pace, over by 3rd day. it was nice to see a proper test innings by a captain to save his team and almost lead them to a win which seemed impossible after Pakistan 1st innings

Bit different this time, I would imagine England would have been happy to take 400 as the Pakistan first innings score before the start yesterday, or even before the start today. Looks like the ball is turning a bit, may cause England problems late in the match.
