Used to take his bets over the phone in one job I had. Never forget one day he rang up on a Monday night - Leeds had won at Preston in play offs, he'd been at some do and was pretty smashed and asked the score, told him Leeds had won and he went off his head calling them all sorts etc.... We used to have to put the phone next to the TV so he got commentary for the horses he had backed, rang up for results one day at half time in a match United were playing in in that Amsterdam tournament. Interesting bloke. The day Rooney got injured just before World Cup at Chelsea one of the lads spoke to him and he said he was absolutely gutted for Rooney like, same when Alan Smith broke his leg at Liverpool.
