Joyce 0 - utter shit
Raynes 2 - we were better when he went off
Kennedy 4 - tried hard but he isn't a left wing back
Dicker 10 - he was a god and showed the lads how to keep their shape on the bench.

Kurle 1 - Dicker on the bench minus 10 points

Paynter 10 - banging them in for fun now after a run of games

Quick effort before bed

Gillespie 7 couple of good saves, couple of flaps that he never got near to
Miller 7 steady, reliable, got forward well
Raynes 6 usual solid performance until injured
Atkinson 8 surprised he was to the left rather than the right as has linked up well with Miller previously , couple of great tackles and one awful error in 1st half, comfortable on right after switch when TAH came on
Grainger 8 good crosses, looks more comfortable in flat back 4
Kennedy 8 getting back to form he showed at end of season
Joyce 7 worked hard, made himself available
Sweeney 6 did ok and a couple of good runs down the left
Hery 7 still hangs on to ball too much but some great touches and works hard
Gillead 9 MOTM by a mile, deserved his goal, when got to by line usually lacked someone to drop off the defence for a lay back and on the couple of occasions when someone did ( Sweeney, Wyke ) they wasted it
Wyke 5 obviously lacked sharpnesss and won little in the air but good to see him back and he will get better

TAH 7 usually solid but caught flat footed on occasions
Asamoah not on long enough to rate but broke the deadlock
Rigg again not on long enough to give a rating but good to see him given a run

Agree with you regarding the game but the ref, really? He failed to award a corner when their goal keeper saved it, failed to book their player for chucking the ball away, and worst of all, failed to give us a penalty when their player had one of ours in a bear hug - he had his whistle half way to his mouth then bottled it. To me he seemed typical of the dross in this league - either fussy beyond belief or completely spineless.

I remember the 'corner' we never got, Talisman, and you're right. Regarding the 'penalty' we never got I thought the linesman was in a much better position to see it and we don't know if there was any communication between him and the ref over the incident. Assistant referees do very little to help refs and most seem content to signal the ball out of play and give offsides but very little else. It very much depends on the angle you see things from. Last week I was convinced, like many, that we should have had a penalty when Asamoah was booked for diving. It seems fairly certain that we were wrong. It takes a team of 3 to work together to cover as much as possible.

Anyway I thought he was better than most of the refs we've seen down here in recent seasons.

Regarding the penalty, im sure the ref thought everybody wanted handball. he was running away tapping his shoulder as they do.

Good to hear Atkinson had a good game. I'd big hopes for him when he signed permanent deal. Hope he stays fit, a good tough player with good attitude.
Good to see Wyke back, 90 minutes will have done him good.

Saturday was why I love football. To see a youngster show such potential. Gillead is a while off being the finished article but something quite special and playing in our colours at Brunton Park. I can't remember when I last saw such potential in a youngster. He'll have days where we all wonder what the fuss was about, got a lot to learn, but really great to see a display like that.

I forgot about all the rubbish happening, forgot billionaires, blue yonder and bad service. For the couple of days since that match I've looked back to it and thought Wow, so pleased to have seen that. I hope the cards of fate fall kindly for him and he has a bright future. Oh, and the rest of the team played a decent game too.

He was playing against a player I saw play for Queens aboot 20 years ago!

Having said that it got the crowd going for the first time in a long time. He's shown enough in the few games he's played to suggest he'll go on to better things. It's great to see a young lad wanting the ball and even coming deep sometimes to get it.

One or two other players could learn from his enthusiasm.

Gillespie 7 - One excellent save and generally pretty solid.
Miller 7 - Looked more solid defensively but less of an attacking threat in a back 4, which you'd expect.
Raynes 7 - Solid as usual until he got injured. I hope his injury isn't too bad.
Atkinson 8 - Excellent performance. Good pace and awareness. Looked solid defensively and his distribution is good.
Grainger 8 - He is much, much better at full back. Suited the back 4 much more. soem excellent deliveries into the box.
Kennedy 8 - Slow start but soon got up to speed. Fought for every ball and looked a threat.
Joyce 7 - Some good covering and energy in midfield. He is a steadying influence.
Sweeney 5 - Not his fault really as he is never a wide left player. Looked a bit lost and didn't really do much.
Hery 6 - Some nice flicks and neat passing... BUT a man with his ability should be delivering a lot more. His end product really is woeful. The moment that summed him up for me is when he did about 5 step overs, easily beat his man... only to smash a hopeless cross into the Warwick.
Gillead 10 - MOTM. The lad had an absolute stormer. Slaughtered his fullback time and again... some really intelligent lay backs from the byeline... surely one of our other players should have had the brains to delay their run at least once to take advantage? Took his goal well doing exactly that.
Wyke 4.5 - Some may think that is harsh, and yes he has just come back from injury... but as I see it he really didn't do anything. Didn't hold the ball up, wasn't a threat, constantly made the wrong run when Gillead broke clear, his touch was awful. Hopefully he gets rid of the rustiness and is back to his best soon.

TAH 6 - Looked solid but he does seem to be struggling to move. he did get frustrated with the crowd after he turned back inside and passed it back to the keeper for about the twentieth time in a row.
Asamoah 7 - Made a real impact. His pace causes so many problems.
Rigg not really enough time to rate him.

Curle 8 - Changed to a flat back four with 1 holding midfielder, 4 across the middle and 1 up front. The tactics looked spot on for the opposition and we pretty much nullified any threat from them. Good substitution bringing Asamoah on towards the end.

Gillespie 6 - Good save in the first half, not a lot to do in the second
Miller 7 - Tireless in defence, trying to be a threat going forward but a change in formation made him look less effective that usual
Raynes 7 - Solid, our best centre half, would be 8 no doubt if it wasn't for the injury
Atkinson 8 - Very good return, looked comfortable on the ball and did well to put their lad off in the dying minutes
Grainger 8 - A couple of superb deliveries, a good day for him and the defence all round
Kennedy 7.5 - Probably his best performance this year, broke up play well but should have been latching on to Gilliead's pull-backs
Joyce 6 - Good link-up play, steady
Sweeney 6 - Can appreciate his consistent hard work but it's often without reward
Hery 6 - Hit and miss, he's got that bit of something special but often did too much on Saturday
Gilliead 10 - Brilliant, got the crowd up in anticipation every time he got the ball, did their left full back inside out. As per Kennedy we should've made more of his crosses.
Wyke 5 - a tough comeback, didn't create anywhere near enough or hold the ball up

TAH 6 - Average, in my opinion he's now become second string and I'd be shipping him out ASAP
Asamoah 7 - Always a threat, did well for the goal
