the last time (of many) it was mentioned, the plan was to move superdrug into the closed dorothy perkins unit, poundland is on a temp lease and bhs is to shut so primark was to take the units from bhs to kfc including the jjb store and use all three floors for retail as that would give them the required 60K square footage needed.

This is likely to have a positive impact on the fortunes of the blues. Out of town supporters will go to the games while their other half stocks up on onesies etc. Those that live in Carlisle will save money on socks/pants etc so will have more spare cash to come to games.

Primark coming to Carlisle can only be good for the City in the short-term, however the fervour around this brand name is scary, how can one store have such an affect ? Primark is the Pound-Shop of the clothes industry with little concern about fair-trade and where goods are sourced, but because the gear is cheap no one gives a damn. The Supermarkets have stifled and killed local businesses, while leaving a wake of waste and over-production in their supply chain, this is not sustainable.....neither is Primark !!

im old enough to remember the same arguments 20+ years ago when Matalan were looking to open in Carlisle. the same concerns then as now that with its cheap clothing it would kill off all the other clothes retailers.
