Think it's a bit much for 4th tier football to be honest. I could understand if Wycombe had the money/facilities/sports scientists to scrutinise the data properly. But by the sounds of it, the main benefit will be for the sports fitness company they're loaning them from.

The kind of thing Keith Curle would be called a mentalist control freak for had it been us using them instead of Wycombe.

Why shouldn't fourth tier professional clubs use this? Been in Rugby League a number of years. Do you not see the benefit to the team in reducing injuries and fatigue?

I certainly do, I would have loved to have known all my stats when I was playing rugby. Not only will it be an aid to fitness and make reductions to injury and fatigue, but it could be a great training aid for coaches too. I'd be all for this sort of thing everywhere.

Exactly, it's basically a pro club doing everything they can to get the most from the team... just don't see how anyone would be against this?

All the fannying with data ( says the strava freak) but all that matters is sticking the ball in the net more times than the opponent :-)

In the most basic terms yes, that's all that matters. But if this can make the difference between a player being at his peak fitness levels or not, then it can have a massive impact on the teams ability to do that. It's often said that fitness levels will make a difference when lower league clubs play top flight clubs, well if this closes that gap and enables the team to play at the maximum for longer periods of time and over more games, again, I don't see why anyone would be against it. Obviously if there's money available for it.

Lee Fern already uses this kind of stuff, pretty basic nowadays for conditioning etc. Not sure how much on a match day but certainly in training.

There is no fannying about...there's analytical software out there to condense the data into what you want to know from the recording units log...
MRF do you not use TrainerRoad or the premium Strava app to look at your HR zones for rides???
No point in having starve if all you do is pedal and ignore the bit that makes you faster!?!?!

One person could analyse the whole teams data in a day...it's incredibly valuable data if you can afford it.
By knowing a persons zones, HR in particular can indicate the likelihood of injury (fatigue) occurring and if you think back how many times our promotion push or vital games have been hampered by having our main goal threat or creative outlet on the treatment table it makes good sense IMHO.

Oh i was jesting about it all in my comments its good to know extra stuff being used these days...as you say toward the end of the season and it will give more insight into which players levels are higher than others.. It may or may not make a difference but certainly worth giving it a bash

As well as GPS trackers, can they also be used as Sat Nav? At least then we could use them to put players in the right positions

I get them wearing gps watches in training for fitness training and injury prevention (i love mine, bought for less than £60). But how silly did the guys in front of Stuart Lancaster look during England's capitulation? Football matches at our level are pretty simple.. .sometimes we can't even count how many players are in our defensive line! Let's just hope the wycombe keeper goes on for mazy dribble down the right wing to get his average pace up!
