Anyone got any info on him? Loked ok on Saturday. Reasonable positioning after the 10th minute, strong enough. Surprised no one mentioned him

I was talking to a couple of lads in pub on Saturday night who were there.
One of them said he's the closest thing we've had to Kevin Gray since the great man himself.
Firm and deliberate heading and strong in the tackle.
Looked dodgy early on but got stronger and more assured as the game went on.
And never stopped giving instrctions and guidance to the players around him.

there was a thread on him last week. defender in on loan i think it was.

When we signed him I looked online to see if he was tall and a number of websites have him down as 6ft 2.

When I saw him on Saturday I was surprised how short he is. He's no David Atkinson, but looks no where near 6ft 2 to me. Unless Raynes is extremely tall.

Didn't look good for the first quarter of the game however grew into his own and did well, won a lot of headers against big forwards.... Also I enjoyed the fact he was hyping up the crowd after our first goal went in, great to see from a loanee.

Something I picked up on in his interview on United Player HD, he's only at CUFC 2 days a week. He's training with us for 2 days and Shrewsbury for 2 days.

What's that all about? Is this what usually happens with loan players? I assumed when we signed a player on loan he'd be here full time for the duration.

He's also a Plymouth fan.

Providing the loans players home club has training that KC is happy with, I think it's an ideal solution for Ellis. I don't know his family circumstances but he is the sort of older more experienced player we need and as such probs has a wife and kids so not as easy to drop everything and move, just for a month. Maybe the only way to persuade experienced pros to come for a month deal. This way he gets his fitness training at home but comes up for the formation and tactics training. If after the month both sides want to commit to longer then maybe is the time to commit to working with us through the week.

When I was on loan at places it was usually the norm that I would train Monday/Tuesday at Sunderland, day off Wednesday and then head down to whichever club for Thursday/Friday training unless a midweek match. If we got beat then maybe go in for the whole week to work on things. As Bumble says, with more experienced players with families etc sometimes these sort of arrangements are offered to get them through the door, happens at 90% of clubs outside the Prem I would say.

The difference with Paynter and Thirlwell is that they were actually contracted to the club and there only training would be at Carlisle, they couldn't do two days anywhere else.

I'm not sure who the player is that commutes from London but Jabo was given a bit time off with injury but when fit he was up here all week unless given extra days off , which again may have been agreed to get him to sign and if he was doing the business. Not sure that can be put down as commuting.

The Ellis situation makes sense to me, 2 days team shape, keeps fitness at Shrewsbury, on top of that him and his family are happy.

Jabo definitely doesn't commute from London. He has a flat up here that he shares with Asamoah.

I would sign Ellis up on an eighteen month to two year deal, he is exactly the sort of player who we need to be attracting, plus he is a winner and knows how to get out of this league.

Anyhow, the odd mistake any of the defenders make will be irrelevant soon when Jabo comes back and we are smashing teams 5-2 - nobody will care

I imagine Shrewsbury don't think Ellis is good enough for league 1. Lets see how he plays before we start throwing out 2 year contracts

Problem is, he is showing everyone else how good he is and we only have him on loan.

Plymouth will certainly know how effective he is now and might fancy signing him.

It's not the Champions League mate! Pretty sure Curle wouldn't not sign a good player because he was ineligible for one maybe two games for his entire potential career at the club.

It's amazing to think that until reading this thread all I'd heard about Ellis were a couple of social media comments after 10 minutes of his debut saying he was sh*t and to get rid of straight away. "Another crap Curle loanee we don't need!"

He has played in two games and we won them both.

Usually when someone wins three on the bounce we make them manager on a two year deal.
