TOPIC: Team Ratings v Plymouth

His woeful tactics back in August did for us in that awful second half. Today, Keith certainly got it right. Best team performance that I've seen in a very long time. They were, to a man, disciplined, motivated and never ever gave Plymouth a moments peace - and the team tactics perfect for the day.

Hanford - 7 Surprise choice, strong on corners and crosses, kicking hopeless.
Atkinson - 9 Top player at this level, solid as a rock
Raynes - 8 Earned his place in the side, not as influential as some.
Ellis - 9.5 We must sign this lad, he was terrific for Torquay and he was just as good today. Forwards must hate playing against him.
Grainger - 8 Solid, does he really need to take kicks on the right hand side of the pitch then scamper back? It'll cost us in the long run.
Kennedy - 8.5 Nobody worked harder, liked to have seen more end product going forward.
Dicker - 9 Clever player, got really stuck into Plymouth today, Had a lot to do with this relatively comfortable win.
Gillead - 8 - Very good performance for the young lad, pace to spare. How far will he go you have to ask, he's got the tools.
Hope - 8 This lad never stops working, not the most gifted but you'd have him in your team every week.
Asamoah - 8 Chased everything, great asset for any team.
Sweeney - 8 Another 100% man and a really important goal.

Subs -

Hery - 7 Did ok
Miller - 7 Came on at left back and didn't let anybody down.
Thompson - Can't remember him doing a right lot, probably not on the pitch for many minutes.

A brilliant, solid and battling performance. United stopped Plymouth playing and Argyle ran out of steam, ideas and interest. Carlisle out fought them and never let it slip. Superb. Also, unlike in August, they brought the right footwear!! Well, almost as one or two of them still lost their footing and Hope changed his boots midway through the first-half.

Hanford: 6 Glad he was given a game. He flapped at a couple of crosses and his kicking has, only, marginally improved
Atkinson: 7 Worked hard like all of the back four. Never gave PAFC space.
Raynes: 7 His distribution is poor - did he complete a pass? However, his dominance in the air and one great header out in the second-half plus his never say die commitment is exceptional.
Ellis 8 Seemed always to be there to clear the ball if it got passed our back line. Terrific player and he can pass.
Grainger 7.5 Another good performance. Curle has got him playing at his best. Always committed and works hard to find space for the ball to be laid off to him.
Kennedy 7.5 Has really got back into the groove. Worked tirelessly to close down their midfield and to get forward.
Dicker 7 He is the guy that gets things going. Worked hard to get into the game in the first 15mins and was slow to a couple of early Argyle moves. However, once he gets going and starts pinging the ball around - no one better.
Sweeney 7 Like Kennedy he works so hard to close the opposition down whilst he is always trying to break into the box and support our forward play. Great goal.
Gilliead 6.5 Still learning and showed his capabilities with a couple of runs. His physicality is where he needs work as he was muscled off the ball a few times.
Asamoah 7.5 Superb performance. His pace was electric and someone we need to sign for the rest of the season at least.
Hope 7 Looked more settled and linked much better with Asamoah and our midfield. Well anticipated for our second goal.

Subs:
Hery 6.5 Worked hard to keep possession as the lads tired.
Miller 6.5 Showed our strength in depth as he slotted in seamlessly into the back four.
Thompson Not on long enough.

Curle 8.5 Excellent organisation and formation.

Hanford 6 - surprise choice, but didn't have a great deal to do. Kicking was woeful at times

Atkinson 8 - dealt with the Plymouth front line superbly, kept the defence solid and shown why we missed him while injured

Raynes 7 - poor game by his standards, still defended manfully. Maybe the injury is still hampering him a little?

Ellis 9 - my MOTM. Dealt with everything thrown at him and brushed Plymouth aside with ease. Can see why Shrewsbury did well last season

Grainger 8 - same level as per usual from the captain

Kennedy 8.5 - surely a goal is coming. It'll be just rewards for his performances lately

Dicker 9 - the main man in the middle of the pitch. Superb passing/defensive duties

Sweeney 8 - solid performance capped by a fantastic goal

Gilliead 7 - worked well on and off the ball, pace to spare but lacked the killer touch in front of goal

Hope 9 - fantastic poachers goal, would probably still be running round home park now if he didn't wanna get home

Asamoah 7.5 - quiet by his standards, yet gave their defenders quite a few jittery moments

Hery 6 - gone off the boil post Anfield. Needs to get his mojo back

Miller - 7 done a job, shame he's not starting but we've got a solid back line now

Thompson - didn't have long enough, but effort was there
