Funds to be raised for

*Upgrading the viewing facilities at Brunton Park for disabled supporters
* Provision of commentary and receiving equipment for blind and partially sighted supporters
* Refurbishing and upgrading the bars including The Sunset Suite and The Sporting Inn

Some very decent causes there tbf but why are we (im a member ) helping john /andrew and steve out when most of us know they are not fit for purpose and the fact they havent funded these whilst knocking back investment only proves this point even more .
I understand why you are doing this but there are so many fans sick of the current board that getting everyone to chip in will never happen and we need everyone onside to take the club further .
So to make things clear i wont be signing up to this as i think they should be funding it 100% as the decay of these facilities has happened on their watch .

Ps.

Why is norman steel still at the top table ?

Hi Alan, I can give you my own personal opinions on this. The above ideas are ways of CUOSC using funds to help CUFC out, but by raising money for CUOSC it also gives us the opportunity to build up some cash to be used for share purchase in future if required. The Andrew Lapping plan would see CUOSC diluting their share to 10%, and one of the main reasons for that was because CUOSC weren't in a position to invest the level of funds required to maintain that 25% share. If a new investor comes in and wants to apply the same kind of plan that AL did, then may CUOSC would be able to retain 15% for example. People say, 'CUOSC have no funds', but that doesn't need to be the case. There are so many things CUOSC can (and should in my opinion) be doing to raise additional funds. This is one, and it's just the start.

With regards to the Norman Steel query - Norman is still chairman because he was elected (albeit temporarily) at the first Board Meeting after the last AGM. This is supposed to be re-visited as part of the defined CUOSC board member roles/responsibilities which will hopefully be in place within the next 4 weeks.

Deano, I'm confused. The email stated that it's aiming to "raise funds to help towards schemes that will help Carlisle United" but what your saying is that it's, in your opinion, to raise funds to help CUOSC build up a cash reserve.

If that's the case then surely the email that was sent out was a little disingenuous?

Also, are you able to tell us the state of the outstanding loans to CUOSC? Norman Steel was elected Chairman because it was a condition of his loaning the Trust the money to buy the shares in the first place. To me, this is a really unhealthy situation for the Trust to be in. Is there a plan to repay these loans? Would any of money raising initiatives be used to pay these back?

Thanks

Hi Armo, it's not one or the other. The funds are there to be used to help Carlisle United and supporters as best possible, whether that's through some of the projects as stated, or to build up a cash reserve for a variety of uses.

With regards the outstanding loan. I don't know how much is outstanding off the top of my head. I can tell you 100% that Norman wasn't re-elected earlier this year on the basis of him loaning money to the Trust originally. I cannot comment on what happened many years ago when that loan happened, because I don't have the knowledge/information.

In all the discussions/board meetings I've had since joining the CUOSC board, there has been no mention of Norman's loan, and this certainly wasn't in mind when setting up the link with Easyfundraising.

Edit: here's the financial summary from the last AGM. Some of that means nothing to me mind.

Sorry to bang on but that's not what the email said. It said it was to help Carlisle United and it could be argued whether helping the Trust is actually helping the supporters.

Regarding the NS loan, it's well documented that a stipulation of his loan was that he was to be Chairman - are you saying he's now waived that right?

Well there's no £100,000 loan on there.

Investment £200,000? Weren't the shares £800,000? That is not the best produced set of accounts I've ever seen, there's no real explanation of anything, in fact I'd go as far as to say it's fucking awful.

If the club had looked after brunton park properly instead of obsessing over the blue yonder shite they left the ground in a shit state after big fred left...all this should not be happening. Basic stuff that should have been dealt with ... in other words its a disgrace.

The club aren't trying to get fans to raise money. CUOSC are choosing to do this. London Branch choose to do this. We chose to sponsor players. CUSAT choose to sponsor players.

My point is sponsoring players is a regular thing..so irrelavant..its the other issues..

the club are happy to let u lot do these things it seems...sitting back taking a back seat ...its their bloody responsibilty as owners to get stuff sorted .not fans or supporters groups....

Mugs all come to mind im.afraid.. harsh but its my view of it.

Not sure what you mean? Mileson gave 600k of the 800k to the Trust to buy the shares. So the Trust own them?

So the trust paid £800,000 for the shares, but the value of the investment is £200,000. Why? Was Mileson's "gift" never put in the trust's accounts?

I'm starting to answer things I know nothing about Moorlad - if you like, I can ask these questions at the next board meeting?

To be honest mate, I have no real interest in the trust, so I don't care whether you ask the questions or not, but they look like a strange set of accounts to me (on the face of it, there may well be reasonable explanations).

That's probably where they've put the loan of £100,000 mate (plus any other loans I'd guess).

So basically the club have chosen to do bugger all maintenance on the ground, and now fans are being asked by CUOSC so raise money to pay for work that should've been done in the first place ?

Isn't that what tickets/season tickets/player sales aka club revenue are supposed to be used for ?

Also, what investment did the trust lose £490k on in 2014 ?

Just for the avoidance of doubt. This doesn't cost you a single penny. When you buy online (2,700+ retailers) the retailer donates a % of the transaction amount to CUOSC.

Already use a similar scheme myself which offers both a discount and often cash back for going through the site which basically redirects you to the retailer. Very simple to use and I normally save a couple of hundred in discounts as wel as earn around £100 cash back a year and that's without using it religiously. Could be a very good scheme, although as said surely it should be used for improving facilities rather than general upkeep which isn't getting done.
