TOPIC: Best paid job for a rivet

My mates grandson is a rivet, but his grandpa wants him to make some money. What's his best "career path?"

Back in my day all the rivets went and worked on building sites. The pure rivets were the brickies, cobble stackers, just like the Romans on Hadrians Wall, they turned out making loads of money. The plumbers were thick as well and they became "heating engineers" Corgi Registered... couldn't even walk a fkin dog.! and made good money. The poor old sparkies were the brightest but the lights went out for them.

Any suggestions?

Car body repair, massive lack of tradesmen, I've got lads on £12 an hour and making between £1300 and £1500 bonus every month, not a bad wage.

Another shortage trade getting worse is Hgv driver. Many are getting towards retirement. 3k to qualify at 18 and then a career for life. If you do it abroad bolster your earnings by collecting some immigrants.
Being a rivet I presume he's to thick to be a mechanic.

How about labour leader

Maybe not the best paid but possible jobs for a teenager to get into are things like painting and decorating, kitchen fitting, double glazing fitting etc. Potentially good money if you work hard. Welders used to be in demand but that was last year. After the collapse in the oil price, fabricators are laying people off rather than taking welders on. Bus drivers are similar to lorry drivers, an ageing workforce but firms still prefer to employ someone middle-aged rather than a youngster for insurance reasons.

Overall he should aim for a building-related trade rather than kitchen work, factory work, unskilled manual work etc. You never know he could be good at what he chooses and later start up his own business.

With no skills or qualifications - a trade as mentioned as they often earn more than graduates eventually - or sales and marketing.

The Sellafield work is going to be huge. Tens of thousands of jobs inc apprenticeships. Might be worth doing some investigation.

He sounds perfect for the Post Office, if a little over qualified.

Sales.... ive worked in that area for a long time and I've seen some absolute rivets making a fortune. Particularly in higher end phone based sales... Not the call centre sh1t... Things like conference sales, headhunter recruitment, sports hospitality, business to business sales. I've seen people who were too stupid to put their shoes on the correct feet making over £100k a year. Basically if you are a bit gobby, don't really give a toss what you say or who you say it to then you may be a natural.
