He was great last season when we were scrapping and fighting for points, his work rate and application was brilliant and he served us well. However with this season's change of style he has looked out of his depth in the few times he's figured. Shame as it's nice to see local lads do well but there's no room for sentiment in football unfortunately.

I might get slaughtered for saying it, but 10/11 years ago when Glen Murray was breaking through he seemed to have a lot of people saying he had a great engine and chased down lost causes but wasnt up to standard, he proved many people wrong. There are goals in Rigg, the best way for him to improve is through loan deals, a couple of months loan at Barrow getting game time each week would help him improve quickly

The main problem we often seem to have is that we are often fighting for something each season, whether it be promotion or relegation, so we don't really have the leeway to play unproven players, other than when its a last resort.

If we were to have a few seasons of mid table stability we would be able to introduce young players without the pressure of thinking if they don't do the business we are fucked. (Unfortunately we didn't do this when we had a few years in L1).

Unfortunately for us our current financial model also relies on us producing a couple of decent young players to sell on each season to cover our losses.

Madine did and we made a tidy profit off him. If the players arent good enough they wont break through. Beck and Symington wouldnt have either if we had right back and decent striker options. The fact is that our youth team hasnt produced a hell of a lot over the last 10 years with a few exceptions.

I heard that Rigg asked for a loan move earlier in the season as he wants to play football, but was turned down by Curle and told to fight for his place. Not sure if it is true but can't think of a reason why the person who told me would lie about it.... still doesn't mean it's true though.

Rigg has never showed any of the aggression that Murray did back then, Craig Curran is maybe a better comparison ?

Riggy would still be banging them in for us, given the chance - the teams he’d be playing are no different to last year! And he’d have better players behind him than last season!! His instinct for sniffing out goal-scoring chances and finishing is brilliant, as will be proven at Barrow.

The reality is though that Keith has brought in higher quality, more experienced forwards because he’s looking to build a top League Two team, rather than mid-table, and eventually a decent League One team .

There’s a future for Riggy in League Two, and possibly with us, but his match fitness is key so a spell with Barrow is a good move for all concerned. Good luck to the lad. He’s worked bloody hard and deserves success as a pro
