TOPIC: Sound of Tannoys in Warwick Road End

Does anyone check pa sound levels before the game in various stands.The one in the warwick road ends terrible its that loud when that guy starts shouting about make some noise for Carlisle united at the start of the game i stick my fingers in my ears .Also the guy on the pa is cringeworthy when he says it.

There was an offer from an electrical firm within the area to completely redo the PA/Tannoy system for the ground and they would cover the cost.
I think maybe the head figure in that may post on here.

Speakers were to be replaced and also speakers put at ground level in front of the warwick and paddock. BBC Radio Cumbria were consulted as they wanted our input, sounded great what they were planning.

The club decided the money that they were donating as well as the work being done could be used better off elsewhere in the ground which was a shame but if there are more pressing matters then fair enough. Im not sure if the offer was just for that work though.

I wish the PA announcer, when reading out the 2 teams, would stop saying ... "And the substitutions for Carlisle are.... number 12 Anthony Sweeney, 13 Dan Hanford etc etc".

Not a major thing, but it does bug me when I hear it. They are SUBSTITUTES, not substitutions.

For your information, the various controls for the PA system are kept in a locked cupboard to which we, the announcers, do not have access. We only have a small mixer to work with. The same people who look after Old Trafford's PA look after ours, apparently...

Colin is aware of the substitutes/substitutions mix-up - it's maybe one of those where the more you think about it, the more it goes wrong.

I really wish the sound system could be sorted out once and for all. It's fine even good in some areas of the ground but totally inaudible in others.

At grounds where there is a decent tannoy system, there is obviously much more interaction between club and fans. Fans actually know what's going on at half time and the whole experience is more enjoyable.

Kellsblue, I don't think it was a "no thanks" mate, I think it was more of a case that they hoped the money could be spent on more urgent things around the ground. Maybe the company could say no and that it was just for that and it may happen, I'll ask Saturday.

Paul Newton done an excellent intro to the match with Derek commentary etc with spine tingling music in the background (well spine tingling for me anyway! ha ha), unfortunately it doesn't belt out the way we hoped and that's just down the system they have, no ones fault really, just needs upgraded.

I think Colin does a good job, just before kick off he gets the atmosphere going, may not be to everyone's taste but I know the young kids around me get going by it! And the atmosphere does raise as he does it so fair play!

Who was the guy that did the draw at half time of the pompey game? Missed the start cause of checking scores and i cant read and listen at the same time but i thought he seemed exactly what you need from that part of the day.

The tannoy is rubbish in the paddock. I'd quite like to hear the commentaries from Lacey that they play in the build up. Maybe the club could put it on the Internet

It crackles a little in the paddock but you can hear whats going on. Think the whole geeing up of the crowd is good just need a few more voices going in the crowd.

it`s back to inaudible again in the Pirelli stand - improved last season , rubbish again this year

after thought : surely it should be audible to every part of the ground for safety reasons if nothing else - can`t believe the offer to fix it was declined. What was more pressing I wonder

Strange story, here we have an electrical business with the labour and equipment offering to do something within their specialised field - it should be accepted no questions. For the company in question, all of it could have been written off and lost within the financial year.
It's a bit like Rickerby offering a tractor to look after the pitch......No thanks the tractor we have if fine, but we could do with a new Tannoy system.
