Hi all,

The clean-up operation is due to begin tomorrow (Weds) morning from 10am. All the ground floor seems to be ruined, so there is a lot of stuff to get outside, and the more the merrier in terms of volunteers to help. Protective eyewear/gloves will be provided but obviously bring whatever waterproofs, wellies etc you think appropriate.

Warwick Road is now re-opened, and parking is available at the ground in the main car park.

Many thanks!

I don't know myself mate - I can't make it as I'll be at work unfortunately, but by all means if you live close, head down for 10am and see if they can use your help anywhere. As mentioned, make sure you stick some old gear on and take wellies/waterproofs...I expect it'll be a hell of a mess :(

Thanks for the offer - I'll find out what the situation is tomorrow night, and post again re: Thurs/Fri. The club are using This email address is being protected from spambots. Will, the club have advised that volunteers must be over 18, due to the complicated working area.

a massive big up to any volunteer that helps out.

I would of gone down but back at work and only so much an arthritic overweight person can do.

For those less physical if there's anything that people can help with direct from the club or via the trust cuosc let us all know.

I've been vocal at my disgust of the trust lately, the owners and the none existent billionaires but all this can wait FOR NOW and should put these aside FOR NOW and help as much as we can as were in trouble. The ground is 10 years older, there's tighter safety controls then 10 years ago and it seems to be worse than before and I expect double the 5 weeks of last time.

Let's get our home back and the club back on its feet and we can start arguing and complaining again!!!!

Up the blues

I'd have been there to help but I'll be across Warwick Road helping my brother clear up his house. Just like today.

Deano is there anything my 15 year old boy and his mates could do,all go to every home match and some away, they want to help but it says over 18s,probably health and safety reasons but they could pick rubbish up or something.

Could be a bit damp today so you may also need waterproofs.
As long as it doesn't cause flooding the rain should also help to wash away some of the silt.

Yeah, if you're available, just head down any time. The'y'll be working as long as there's daylight. Not sure what the situation will be when the dark kicks in later on today. I've heard there is a generator/lights there.

Sorry mate, just seen this. I don't know myself - if they live close, they could always pop down and ask the question. As you say, it's probably on H&S; grounds.

I wouldn't mind having a chat with the H&S; knob as to why a 17 year old isn't allowed to tidy up a flooded football stadium.

Went down for an hour or so this morning. We have some flipping wonderful fans. There were folk from Appleby, Penrith, Silloth, Wigton and of course Carlisle there helping. Probably folk from many other places in Cumbria too, those were just the ones I recognised.

Some of the Carlisle folk had been flooded themselves, having cleared their own houses they came down to help as there was nothing else they could do in their own properties for now.

The staff were all mucking in, including Suzanne Kidd and Phil King, and many of the directors were there as well.

Dan Hanford and Gary Dicker were ripping up carpets and mucking in with everyone else.

Alan Moore, Vince Overson and Dave Wilks, were working cleaning there offices.

The football in the community folk were busy in the Neil Centre and of course Dave Mitchell and his gang were working hard .

In the time I was there, the biggest size skip went from empty to overflowing and plenty more stuff sitting forlornly in the car park.

So sad to see the Apocalypse that is Warwick Road, but so uplifting to see all the work being done.

Little things like the patience shown at the non existent traffic lights, and the way folk were stopping to let others out at junctions.

I have no doubts the club will get through this and move on.
