50 Years Ago last week, 27 November 1965, Carlisle vs Middlesborough match was postponed due to water in the 'powder' form.

Despite efforts of the ground staff and volunteers, it proved impossibe to clear the snow off the pitch and find somewhere to deposit it. The Warwick Road shed was being constructed that year..

I love seeing old pictures of football grounds, especially BP . I have never seen these before either. I'd love to see more. There must be more hidden in people's cupboards somewhere!

Can never understand why, with so many photos of Old Carlisle, so few were of Brunton Park. Also didn'tCarlisle have two grounds before Brunton Park, but never seen a photo of either ground.

I seem to recall reading - maybe around the time of the centenary - that much of the club archive was lost in a fire (?).

I think I've seen this one before and the caption said something about a Cumberland Wrestling competition.
The old Carlisle waterworks are in the background.
