No wonder some people think we have a West London Branch not a London Branch. London still has two greyhound stadia at Romford and Crayford despite the closures of White City, Harringay, Walthamstow and Catford to name a few.

Do they? I wouldn't know as I don't and have never lived in West London...

You are of course correct that dog tracks also exist at Romford and Crayford which are within greater London albeit a lot further out. However folk who come from those towns are more likely to identify as being from Essex or Kent.

They were on about it in the dog channel last night like, quite resigned to it going. Victor never did anything with the Stow before that went and you'd never class Romford or Crayford as London to be fair. The best bet may be that Hills actually build one but since Kate Miller left they seem to be less involved with dogs, still think they may well be interested as they have put a few quid in the last decade or so.

The high property value sites will continue to close for redevelopment and it will be the smaller family-owned stadia which survive. All the bookies care about are there being enough tracks to keep the punters interested. It doesn't matter to them that the tracks are in Sunderland or Yarmouth.

That's why I mentioned Kate Miller as she pushed dog racing a hell of a lot in her time at Hills - her father is quite well known in dog racing circles as he's a bookie himself. If any Firm was to fancy building one it would be Hills I would say and you would expect London to the one place where it is viable. Get some decent crowds at Romford at times but the prices offered on track compared to Betfair are crazy at times as well.

With 365 showing most dog races live now as well as the RPTV channel the regulars are obviously dropping as well.

Sadly London is the last place in the UK where greyhound racing would be viable because of changed demographics and hugely expensive land values. All those people who used to enjoy an evening of a 3 course meal at the Stow followed by grab a granny night at Chans have long since moved further out and probably now live closer to Harlow, Romford and Crayford. Ironically speedway which often shared stadia with dog racing has enjoyed a continued revival because of its huge popularity with Polish immigrants and Sky sponsorship. Bydgoszcz is now as well-known to speedway fans as Belle Vue.

Couldn't see a new stadium being built anywhere else and it taking off personally - every other big City has one nigh on. Need to come trendy again mind for that to happen, long gone since it was touted in FHM etc now - Club Wembley or an exec box somewhere more up the hipsters street these days. Would probably have to become trendy to the point it was 200 quid a ticket to be viable now I think about it!
