TOPIC: Player ratings for Notts C

Well a good day out for £4.10 ( programme £2, tea £2.10 )

A very good all round team performance with no weaknesses.

Gillespie 7 one great one handed save from a close range header, crosses that I felt he should have come for in 1st half but didn't. More secure on crosses in 2nd half
Atkinson 7 steady performance
Raynes 8 and Ellis 8 developing a really good understanding between them. Ellis reads the game well and keeps it simple. Raynes getting to be a real leader on the pitch
Gillesphey 7 gaining in experience, keep his position well and solid enough
Sweeney 7 unselfish, good positional sense, out on his feet and expected to come off on the double substitution but wasn't and kept on going. A real team player
Kennedy 9 MOTM everywhere, absolutely outstanding. Won a crunching tackle and drove into the box to win the pen
Dicker 7 approaching former midfield partnership we saw at the end of last season with Kennedy
Grainger 8 some terrific crosses in the 1st half which we should have made more of. Faded after a knock
Wyke 8 worked hard, bit of handbags in 2nd half and justified his booking, but should have been joined in the book by at least one County player for the incident
Ibehre 8 approaching his heady performances of earlier in the season. Some lovely touches and reads the game so well.

Subs- Asamoah was lively and kept the County defence on their toes. Thompson and McQueen kept our shape well but Joe ducked out of a couple of 50 50 tackles

Ref should have got out his yellow card earlier for some of the County players, especially for one particularly cynical foul

Support 10 absolutely fantastic atmosphere throughout.

We faded a bit in the 2nd half - looked as if we ran out a bit of steam and ended up playing too deep but a great team effort and a fabulous day out.

I think your ratings are spot on 1954. The only concern for me was that we faded in the second half and Notts County had 3 or 4 guilt edged chances which a better side would have taken. I'm not sure why Luke Joyce wasn't in the squad. If he had been on the bench he could have replaced Sweens or Dicker and helped Kennedy block their play. If Joyce has an injury, or if Kennedy picks one up we need cover for that important role and KC has to make that a priority in January.
