As a militant vegan I find the industrial suffering and slaughter of animals solely for brief moments of human enjoyment deeply offensive. However I am interested to know which particular species you lot will be singling out for festive torment.

* From what I understand there hasn't been a case of festival cannibalism out west since 1994, but thought I'd ask just on the off chance anyone from Maryport is a staunch traditionalist and is also able to use a computer

I once told my wife goose was traditional in Britain, we have to have that every year now. I don't have a problem eating meat but it would be good if we could treat the animals a bit more humanely. The video on you tube of the US policeman breaking down when he tried to arrest the activists and they showed him the crusher live chicks were thrown in was horrible. We can do better and still eat meat.

You'll get me to be a vegan when you can stop the following eating meat:
Cats, dogs, foxes, birds of prey, lions, tigers, pumas etc.

In the UK we try to ensure we comply with the 5 freedoms of animal welfare, which are:

Five Freedoms are essential to the welfare of any animal kept in captivity:
freedom from hunger or thirst.
freedom from thermal or physical discomfort.
freedom from pain, injury and disease.
freedom from fear and distress.
freedom to indulge in normal behaviour patterns.

Some improvements can still be made, but we are way ahead of most of the World. Animals treated with respect and kept in right conditions, perform and taste better :-)

Only 2007 when Fiji apologized for cannibalism. Didn't mention how they were cooked or served though

When will we Paddock dwellers qualify for these rights? Are we not sentient beings? Do we not feel?
