Very good article in the Times today about Stan-now sadly unwell.Gerry Francis describes him as a version of Messi!

:) First saw him playing for Crewe at Crewe, Could have been the old league cup not sure, Not long after Carlisle signed him on and the rest is history....

I always liked the story of the Roma players turning up at BP in their fancy suits with model wives and a van pulled up and out jumped Stan with his boots in a carrier bag!

And none of those fancy dan Italians could lace those said boots.

just wikied it - makes interesting reading - never knew the history, I always thought it was all played in Italy.
