Think its very poor to even think about letting him go.

Things are starting to turn backwards i reckon..results have been crap recently and now flogging the best midfielder we have isnt exactly ambitious..

The way Curle treated him last season was awful, so its no great surprise.
Oh but hang on, Curles the best manager we've ever had according to some people, who are we to ever question his decisions?
He's a lot better than Abbott you know!!

That 'loon' nearly got us into the Championship playing in front of the biggest crowds for donkey's years.

Nearly?
What good is nearly? You either do something, or you don't.
Where were we when Ward joined?
Where we were when he left us?
What has he done since?

Mickey mouse manager like.

Remember when everyone was crying and outraged because Paynter was being allowed to leave, some saying "I bet Paynter out scores any Carlisle player this season". Curle was branded an absolute idiot for letting Billy go. Truth is Curle knew that Ibehre was better. Let's see who he brings in to replace Dicker first or what this QPR lad is like before Curle is branded clueless again.

To be fair to Paynter, he's scored 7 in 18 in a poor team, before an injury that's seen him miss most of the last 3 months. That's a decent strike-rate whatever you think of him...

But he's shitter than what we replaced him with. The point i was trying to make was that we haven't missed him because the players we have in his position are better. Until we know who we'll sign to replace Dicker, I don't think it's worth crying about.

We'll never know as he didn't get a fair crack here for various reasons...

Agree about replacing Dicker, interesting few days ahead...

Paynter? Still flogging this dead horse CCU? The bloke was a shambles. Fair crack? 17 league games last season, 1 goal. Laughable that he has a contract with a league club. Asamoah, Jabo, Wyke and Rigg all far superior players, and not work shy overpaid morons too. 7 league goals on his last 64 league games is not a good strike rate!

Dicker - binned off by BHA as soon as they were decent, then by Roch, Crawley, and now us. Off to play at a lower level, again. No miss and never better than average.

Ive never been Dickers biggest fan nor do i dislike the bloke as a player either. Im guessing though that hes one of our top earners and if getting rid of him means we can strengthen then im all for letting him move on. If we dont replace him ill be dissapointed. You never know though maybe this midfielder weve already signed is good enough to be his replacement.

Without Gary Dicker in this squad, we don't have many options in central midfield. He has got a much better pass than anyone else.

Look at Notts County. Him and Kennedy together were brilliant.

I'm not sure about this whole Curle-Dicker feud people are going on about, Dicker was the one who reacted well to what happened, worked hard and got back into the team, exactly what Curle wanted him to do.

If anything it improves Curle's opinion of him because he has got his head down and worked, exactly what he said he wanted players on the 'transfer-list' to do.

Maybe we were only going to offer him a 1 year deal at the end of this season, and knowing that he'll get a longer deal at Kilmarnock think it's fair on the player to let him talk to the them.

Dicker is our best midfielder and also grafts a lot more than people give him credit for. He covered a lot of ground and made a couple of last ditch tackles vs York last week which may have gone unnoticed by those who only want to criticise.
Very sad if he goes but lucky to have seen the best of him this season he's been a joy to watch when he's played . Having said all that his days have been numbered since KC arrived and his contract would not have been renewed imo. I agree with an earlier post that there is a good chance that a decent replacement has already been lined up if he goes. I don't think he'd be allowed to leave yet if not.

To let Dicker go without a replacement who is as good as or better would be foolish. I don't believe Curle is a fool so I can only assume that a replacement has been identified or has the idea of promotion been shelved by others.

Dicker's the best footballer at the club for me, the best range of passing but considering he was a Kavanagh signing the writing has been on the wall ever since he sided with Paynter last season in the club feud.

If his replacement turns out to be better then so be it KC will have been proved right but as it stands bad move. I understand he'll be one of the highest earners but if you pay peanuts as they say.........

Been good to watch someone who is proven at a higher level after putting up with a lot of dross down the years and I for one will miss him if he leaves.

Through all his great performances he's still been on the transfer list so this has always been on the cards and should come as no surprise. He's prob the best footballer at the club.

I see what other people see, a capable footballer with a touch of class, a decent player at this level, but nothing special.
Given that we are not likely to replace him with anyone better, I won't be celebrating when he goes.
BUT, we aren't going to get out of this division, this season, next season, or the season after that, if we are relying on mediocrity, so we can re-sign Paynter, hand Dicker a 3 year contract and finish 15th every year, or we could at least try to do something else.

He's the best passing midfielder we have - I rate him above Joyce. His agent must have put this clip together but Id expect nothing less from an agent if my manager wanted me to go.

At Wycombe, Hery and Kennedy were outstanding after Joyce got sent off (aside from Hery's bizarre lost in the light moment.)

There's a common denominator: Jason Kennedy.

Great timing to get shot of Dicker - he'd be easy pickings for Everton with his immobility.

Unfortunately he might not go. I doubt any club will be daft enough to offer him close to what Kav did in wages.

Either way, he'll be playing somewhere like Southport in 18 months time.

Some comments on here are laughable, you likely don't know too much about football. "He'd be easy pickings for Everton, fur to being immobile" are you deluded pal. Better teams afford you more time on the ball meaning you can play more hence Liverpool. Dicker imo is the best midfielder at the club. Streets ahead off a poor Luke Joyce who quite honestly does not do a lot when he plays. Dicker should be first name on the team sheet every week. Dictates a game and runs the game and a far better team when he's in it. Simple.

Well Dicker's FA Cup badged shirt is printed ready for Sunday.

Bit of a waste of marking up a shirt if they are expecting him to be gone by then.

Whether it's Gary Liddle or not, chances are Curle has a replacement lined up for Dicker. Liddle wouldn't be able to play in the FA Cup for us, so it makes sense to have Dicker around for the game on Sunday and then do both bits of business after the game.

They're hardly going to be telling Everton and the rest of the world who is going to be in the squad for Sunday are they? That is just a picture of some shirts they've hung up to make it look good.

Haha, not far away. I stand next to the pitch holding up a newspaper with two eyeholes in.

I always see them arriving at the Creighton while I'm at work. They've been walking over to the new AstroTurf pitches at Harraby school for the last few months to train. I see them walking back past my house after training after they've crawled back under the temporary fence (I kid you not)!

Balanta and Thompson are on crap contracts because they are crap... Dicker is on a good contract because he is a good player.

In this case Kavanagh signed a player who has added value to the club... Curle wasted money on two players who have contributed very little.

We have to trust Curle and allow him to replace Dicker before you can judge this deal. On the face of it getting rid of your best passer when you are trying to build a passing team is a bit crackers.... But clearly there is an issue between player and manager after last year. To me he is our best midfielder and has been one of our best players this season... He does have the age old problem for players at our club though... If you aren't charging around like a headless chicken and flying into tackles then a large part of our fan base will never rate you.

Personally I don't think we should be getting rid of a player who is comfortable on the ball and has the best passing range at the club... Unless we are bringing a similar style player. If we bring in another work horse then we are struggling for creativity and the balance of the team will be affected. Let's wait and see I guess.

I disagree, I don't think he affected the game as much as he has in previous matches. For me his best game this season was Chesterfield in the cup.

Simple.

Dicker did OK at Anfield to be fair but maybe Rodgers hadn't scouted us properly. But we were lucky to get there as Dicker was repeatedly skinned for pace in the previous round at QPR. With better finishing, we'd have been four down in 25 mins while Dicker was getting out of his rocking chair and putting on his slippers to perform his slow motion style tackles.

I hope Kilmarnock find the coin to tempt him away

as I said... If you don't run around like a headless chicken you'll never be popular with a lot of our fan base. He isn't the quickest or most dynamic but that's not everything in football... The ability to pass and stay composed are vital if you want to play passing football. The ball travels faster than anyone on the pitch...

he sounded like the famous kavanagh 'We need bodies' quote. "I played against him a good few times down south," he recalled. "He is a good midfielder.

"We have spoken to a few players and it would be nice to get a couple in, just to have fresh faces in the changing room and to try to improve the squad."

Long gone are the days when passing ability could make up for a lack of pace, I doubt Balderstone would get anywhere near the top level now despite his magic touch.

Everton's players were fitter and faster than ours, the modern game demands fitness as well as finesse. Anyway I bet Dicker's pass completion percentage is poor compared to others at the club.

While we have this healthy debate about the merits or otherwise of the Dicker, the only view that counts is Curle's and he clearly agrees he can do better.

Kilmarnock changing manager probably means we're stuck with him until the summer. We must be close to our wage limit; let's hope him staying doesn't prevent us getting a talented winger through the door tomorrow

He's the best passing midfielder we have - I rate him above Joyce. His agent must have put this clip together but Id expect nothing less from an agent if my manager wanted me to go.

I bet he hasn't put a clip together after today's match.

We need him in on Sunday that`s a cert...............wonder if Kilmarnock had spies down for the York game - GD played the best I`ve seenn him on Saturday and was my MOM.................. he would have caught the eye.

Without doubt he has an occasional good game. However, what you really need is someone who delivers every week. Liverpool away (or Kilmarnock scouts watching) is once a decade. Luke Joyce is at least committed to the cause and on a cold winters night away from Brunton Park I know who I'd rather have in the team.
