Yet again a physically weak tactically inept perfomance from players and management who at best are of non league quality and can not and should not be classed as professional sportsmen in any way

Tactically inept, time after time team set up and set out wrong. Far to defensive and that's it.

It was an awful team selection tactics and performance.... yes we probably should get beat... but at least go for it.... if Shrewbury had adopted that attitude yesterday or Peterborough both West Brom and Sheffield Wed would be in the next round

Beaten before the game started..Negative set up when its a cup match at home .get right up em.. instead a damp squib with shit tactics and selections.

Why so many happy clapped at the end i do not know. I expected a lot better but it was like watching an Abbott side shit itself at a bigger side.

So, the few different formations and styles of play we've used this season have all been the same have they?

That first half hour was embarrassing. I don't care what team you play against, if you let any professional players have all the time in the world on the ball with absolutely no one putting pressure on them, then they are going to stroll it. It wasn't even the one up front, we did that and Anfield but our midfielders closed theirs down, the only one of ours doing that was Comley (the one positive from today).

It's a one off match, get in their faces, put their defenders who aren't great on the ball under a bit of pressure. It was just so so poor.

Just disappointed we were set up to not really have a go at winning the game.

We wouldn't have scored if we'd played till next saturday.

Disgraceful today! Boooo!!!!!

Why didn't he pick Joyce and Grainger? And why were Soley and Mountfield made to sit in the crowd when we needed them on the pitch! Curle you idiot, don't you know it's easy to beat teams 3 divisions above us, we've done it quite a lot* in our 110+ year history! Clown!!!

Curle out!

Not disappointed that we lost the game, it was the manner - too many weren`t at it .....OR the gulf just showed today. They were fitter, faster and just generally a lot lot better than our Div 2 lads, and they had every base covered ......which is only right or Everton would be worried.

I don't think anybody has any complaints at losing to Everton. The disappointing thing for me today was the lack of performance. Yes we were playing Everton, and yes I expected us to get beat, but at least put up a bit of a fight. As somebody mentioned earlier, Barkley had far too much time on the ball. Class player, I will not disagree, but we gave him 5 yards all game. I thought Hope/Wyke/Ibhere should have come on earlier than half time (not all of them!). When he did decide to bring Hope on, he then stuck him out on the left wing.

Still, the focus now is on the league. We have games in hand and a good opportunity to get back up into the playoffs.

Yeah why didn't we play 2 up front like Everton did? Oh hang on a minute they didn't. I think if we'd started with 2 up front we'd have got thumped. Was hoping we'd get a draw but I'm not disappointed at all tbh. Hopefully we can get a couple in tomorrow and push back up the table.

Looks like Keith set us up to frustrate them with the intention of still being in the game to nick something late on which was thrown out after 3 mins.

Ok we got it wrong today and perhaps we should have gone 442 and given it a go but I don't buy into this garbage comment. Everton will have lads on 1,000x more than some of ours so regardless of our set up, it was always going to be a tough task. Our most important game this season is the next one at home to Accrington and the one where they will need our support rather than the observers of a PL team. For those who don't normally attend, pls do your best to get there next week. UTB.

We got thumped 3-0. Poor Asamoah was chasing balls all day, if we'd had somebody that could have held the ball up a bit, it might have stopped the ball coming back so quickly.

Curle got it badly wrong, playing 5 central midfield players and one small forward with no width played right into Evertons hands .Martinez must have guessed what we where trying to do , just stopped us playing anything from the back by pressing , which forced us to hit long to a small striker., easy?
Gilhespey and Diccker should never of started , at least he hauled them off at half time.
I would have started with the 4- 4-2
Hope, Gilliad wide , Connlly and Kenedy in the middle with Jabo and Whke up front .

the goal after 2 minutes killed it for us. Atmosphere went after it and the defensive formation was wasted.

i didnt think the correct team was picked and Curle is to blame for that but i didnt think he picked the correct team against Plymouth and both Yeovil games yet we progressed.

No shame in going out to a team in the Premier League. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to give their heads and their expectations a wobble

Looked like Keith Lemon had set us up,it's just not good enough one off game full house and the limitations and low expectations of the club and regular support are there to see clap, clap, clap

Ffs we got beat by one of the best teams in the country who cares? We've done well to get this far we've made a few quid. Let's hope the manager has players identified and he's allowed to sign them tomorrow then we can try to push on again in the league.

Some folk on here need to get realistic, thought we could have done with midfielders out wide as we got caught out on the wings a couple of times first half. Thought Comley had a good game. We probably could have played a little bit better, but saying we should have 'had a go' and not sat back at all is ridiculous, as if going man for man with a premier league side would be a good idea, prime example is what Chelsea have just done to MK Dons and we're 2 divisions below them.

Watched on tv and was disappointed by a lot of what I saw. I thought the three at the back was right to begin with but then the two wing backs were too far forward to help the defence. Poor Gillesphey was a bit lost and as usual with Carlisle teams everyone backed off and was afraid to make a challenge. Why did Atkinson not make an attempt to cut out the cross for the first?
The Berkley goal was so much deflected it could have been an Ellis og, it was heading for Gillespie to save.
BT Sport shamefully kept making a huge issue about some alleged racism which Martinez dismissed in his interview. They really tried hard to stir it up which has saved me the trouble of going back to them for my internet.

The real world, I thought this was the fourth round of the most famous cup competition in the world,if clubs the size of Carlisle don't feel able to compete with clubs from a higher division then why bother, as for supporting Man Utd only ever supported Carlisle and will happily put my total games attended up for scrutiny

You seem to forget Mark, Abbott was in charge when we last played Everton at Goodison, we conceded an early goal to a mistake, then equalized, hit the bar and that cheating Belgium Tawt Falani should have walked. In other words we made a hell of a lot more fist of it than today, quite frankly we were embarrassing today

Sorry son, Gimp by name , gimp by nature! Cup upsets do happen but not that often. Everton got the early goal and we were chasing it from that point on. I agree that KC got the selection wrong but there's no shame in losing to a decent side like Everton. Wrong set up, yes. Lack of pressing the opposition, yes. Shame, no. e got beat but not annihilated, I'm disappointed but let's not get carried away.

Seems like Everton are better than Yeovil and York, eh? Who would have thought it.
Everton did a professional job, too big a gulf in class, no disgrace there.
Man U cruised past Derby and Chelsea thrashed MK and they both play in the Championship.
We'll be back to standing ovations and 9/10 marks next week with a 1-0 win over Accrington.

Dam did i miss somet here i thought we played 9-0-1 most of the first half.

But to be honest the team choice today was one of KC's worst Gillesphey ‏seemed to think he could walk through the game . The balls we were playing up front we needed jabo or even wyke to get hold of it and give us a chance to get the midfiled up there . it was never going to work hoofing the ball up as it was gonna come back twice as quick which it did

Yep, round of applause for the first of our teams to get to the 4th round of the FA Cup and 3rd round of the League cup in the same season for how long? A run that has seen us travel the length of the country, beat QPR away and take Liverpool to pens, why shouldn't they get a round of applause?

Team v Liverpool

Gillespie, Miller, Raynes, Grainger( out injured ), Joyce ( suspended) , Hery ( still injured? ), Kennedy, Dicker, Sweeney, McQueen, Asamoah - on his own up front and scored.

Of course I get it - Curle got the tactics totally wrong against Liverpool too. The man is a disgrace - if he hadn't got his tactics wrong at Anfield we'd have won in 90 mins and not lost on pens. Incidentally Jabo came on as sub at Anfield too as part of the plan, as did Gillesphey and Gilliead and did well. The early goal did for us and injury and suspension limited Curle's options for today's game.

Some folk on here need to have a reality check.

Curle has taken us on two good cup runs - one the best for 19 years - and we've had two good paydays and a bit of fun and something to cheer about along the way.

Yes, a bit disappointing we couldn't have put on a better show but get over it.

Some people seem to be missing the point here. Yes we've had two great cup runs but the point of this post is about today's game, not what has gone before. The mentality of the team today compared to at Anfield was ridiculous. We were beaten as soon as they kicked off.

To be beaten by Everton was expected, to be beaten by Everton in the manner we were wasn't. It was a pathetic performance harking back to the Abbott days of us being grateful to be on the same pitch as such a great club. It was a mirror image of the Tottenham game a few years ago when we barely had a go, stood off them for 90 mins and went down with a whimper.

Everton were fragile, 1 win in 12 and massive question marks over their defense, yet we gave them an easy ride. A little man up front with no support for 30 yards played right into their hands. We had nothing to lose today but played like a team who was scared. Disappointing

My thoughts exactly Frank, and also as I mentioned above Abbott was in charge the last time we played Everton, and we made a hell of a lot more fist of it then than we did today. Everton were better than us all over the pitch agreed, and thoroughly deserved to win, but to be honest we made it so easy for them it was laughable.

Agree we could have been better today but people are going over the top. Any slight underperformance and it can be shown in the league, never mind against a side of full internationals.

As for comparisons, we had a better team in 2010 than today, and I'd say Evertons line up today was better than back then also. We admittedly had less of the ball today, but also more shots.

As for comparing to Liverpool, we had 30% possession today compared to 35% there (oh wow), we also had more shots today. Everton had 16 shots today, Liverpool had 47(!).

But of course, Liverpool was the best performance we've ever seen and today was an absolute disgrace.

Not sure Ibehre would have made much of a difference, but I could spend the rest of my life trying to fathom out why you would bring Hallam Hope on before him.

Doesn't sound like a very wise use of your time that like...if you have got that much spare time on your hands though, maybe you could try to work out why bry seems astonishingly obsessed with Greg Abbott.
It's not healthy bry, let it go, he's gone! Who is he managing these days?

Well I actually couldn't care less about today, me and my son took a day off work and travelled to Yeovil for the FA cup replay. We witnessed an extremely difficult night! It was nerve wracking from start to finish. We came away elated that we had had seen us through to the 4TH ROUND of the FA cup, in EXTREMELY dramatic circumstances. Amazing really, it was a real a stroke of luck.

So, sod today, upsets are about 10 to 1 anyway and today was never going to be an upset - Everton were right on the money. I look back to the last round and realise, our luck had to run out soon.

We had a gameplan and a team selected to carry it out. A team of workmen with the flair ready on the bench to throw on against tiring legs. Make us hard to break down and push on later in the match. the early goal took the wind out of us. Appalling defending. That said they were bigger, stronger, faster and more accurate. first to the ball each time. Our midfield were running in circles trying to get close let alone tackle someone. We missed Grainger, Gilesphey was sleeping for the 1st and we had no supply at all on the left. Hope had an absolute mare, I though Wyke was option as we needed goals. And we had no pace on the wings until Gilead came on.
It took 20 minutes to get a foothold but by that time we were 2 down.
It was only around 80 minutes where we started playing football.
Our ability of playing passing football seems to have deserted us recently.
Ultimately we got a result against a poor Liverpool team and were professionally put away by a competent Everton team.
