Agree mark didn't feel comfortable trying it despite lots of others taking the plunge can handle the snow/ice but when combined with a gusty wind it can be a recipe for disaster .
Thinking of inviting john ,steve, andrew and norman next time a venture out i'll even supply them with flat soled shoes to make sure they never come back .

Not done that...think its a bit too scary looking at.it:)....halls Fell ridge is a less daunting walk up Blencathra.

Much shorter than Striding Edge. Also narrower in places, and the Skiddaw Slate which Blencathra is composed of is very slippery when wet.
The final pull up onto Foule Crag is much steeper than the exit from Striding Edge onto the Helvellyn summit plateau.
Over quickly but a wee bit more intense than Striding Edge. Best done before a descent of Halls Fell ridge which descends pretty much directly from the trig point.
Crampons and ice axes a must in winter conditions.

Yes a few times but not on this weather. Also Striding Edge a few times. Once met a woman sitting in the middle who said she suffered from vertigo!

I miss the fells even though it's fooked one of my knees. It aches like hell after a bit but not as much as my ears do with the moaning of MRF.

You do well to hold a tablet steady enough. For taking fell walking, I suggest a small camera would be better than a DSLR - especially because of the size of the lenses. Almost as good - and much better than a point-and-shoot - is a micro four thirds camera. These are made by Panasonic and Olympus and their lenses are interchangeable. They're not cheap but, depending on which lens you use, they are pocketable.

My fuji bridge camera takes great shots including the odd panoramic 3 shot job but it needs a steady hand for accurate finish. Got a framed panoramic from Loughrigg fell a few years ago.

Took in today

Did it this morning started at threlkeld and went up blecathra by halls fell which is an excellent climb on its own walked back down to scales tarn and with the help of someone who'd crossed sharp edge before i completed it (kept as high as poss on ridge too) tbh with it being dry rock it was only terrifying but i really enjoyed it and would deffo do it again as long as it not wet as the rock is really smooth and would become lethal.
No pics today as i kept camera in bag the less distractions the better

Wouldnt have done it on my todd mate when looked at it from scales tarn it looked impossible going across there were a couple of times where you do step out over the edge a bit whilst holding on with two hands

as for bricking it more nervous but as ive said very enjoyable halls fell was class bit of everything and a rapid climb to summit for a change .
May get camera out next time round
Looking forward to your sharp edge video mark its inevitable

There’s nothing worse than getting a severe attack of the crampons whilst on the fells.
