TOPIC: What position will we finish thread

What position will we finish thread 26 Jul 2025 17:06 #1

So, we have a number of new signing, some look really solid and some look like real crud pleasers.
Down side is that it's not like we have gone in and brought in players on good money that know how to get a team promoted, Keith has had to take a chance on he cheap with some of these guys.

So I see an improving season, get off t a reasonable start for a change then drop into mid table but keep he season alive with a faint play off hop until around March.

12th

We will concede fewer goals and score fewer goals. The football will be absolutely dire and we will have a divided squad again.

My optimistic head says a promising season , but in reality we have sold two out of the three players with any sort of value and replaced with players on free transfers or out of contract, my pessimistic head says we will struggle.

Bottom 5 or 6. Be same crack again, Curle sacked mid September, player/new manager fall outs, get to end of season, big clear out, start again etc etc.

I was going to write along the same line Mashie.

Once the results start occurring negatively on a regular basis then more heat will be applied towards the directors box and Curle shall become a handy scapegoat to relieve pressure upon themselves and distracts the crowd away from them back onto the pitch for the following three months just like the pattern has been in recent seasons.

Repeat ad nauseum.

If the new defence works, and Ibehre is still the force I reckon he could be, I think we'll be flirting with the play offs. We may well just miss out this year, but with the players we have I think we could be top 10. Hery could prove to be the most exciting recruit we've had since Bridges if everything goes right for him. I just think we don't look like a side that can be bullied any more, and in this league that can make a big difference.

9/4 looks tempting for top northern club with York, Hartlepool, Accrington and Morecambe to compete with.
Even money for top half
7's for promotion
12's for relegation

We've lost our 2 best players (BP & KD).

Keith Curle is still our manager.

5 or 6 'unwanted' decent earners still on our books for another 12 months.

Off the field turmoil.

15+ ridiculously long away trips.

And some people think this season is going to be better than the last one?

League position finish?

Will JNs porkie pie billionaire be in place before the end of the year?
Will JN still be on the operating board and doing his FA gigs?
Will Brunton Park have gas and electric by the end of the season?

The thing you've got to remember is that on the whole our division is mostly utter clart! The fine line between play off push and relegation dog fight is very small.

With the additions we've made ie more bulk and power and a little more quality ie Kennedy and Joyce, I think top ten is not unrealistic. If however we manage to pull off a "Micheal Bridges" type transfer in the January window promotion could be a real possibility.

As for the rest, I can't understand the hype of Portsmouth, always a let down! I think Luton with Mckail Smith will be the team to beat.

I'd be happy with mid table 12th.

Luton, Pompey, Leyton Orient, Oxford, Cambridge have all recuited very well and they'd be my top 5 at a canter! Think 4 of them 5 will be promoted so anything above mid table will be a huge bonus

Well i'll stick to the glass half empty routine.
playing pretty in half arsed friendlies doesn't mean it will be done during the season, just look at last season. Set up one way then give up on it after 3 thrashings.

bottom half struggle again. dour games to watch Nixon takes over from Curle as manager.

Billionaire is actually real but walks away realising Nixon can't be either trusted or moved from position.

AJ and Nixon invite Pestilence and death to ride to our rescue.

Agree with Bluesmad. There are a lot of good clubs (relatively speaking) in the division which, in spite the good preseason results, will make life difficult next season. Mid or (best) upper half will be undoubted progress

League position, we'll finish 10th. Managers will realise we are vulnerable at the back when pressed.

I expect him to be still in place and I hope he is but, If the idiots in charge don't get him contracted someone else, probably a club in trouble, may just take a punt on him, Rotherham for example must be close to dispatching Evans.
