Yes you'd of thought Aladyce would of sorted the overpaid, idle players out and picked the one who deserved to play but he just picked the usual useless f*****s who were crap at the euros. Jack Wilshere has played his first 90 minutes for what seems like years so he goes straight back in the squad! I gave up on England after Euro 96

Was just wondering who these in form players are who were unfortunate to miss out.

Unless it's escaped your notice there isn't a vast number of international quality, in form players queuing up to represent England at the minute. As for the point about not picking youth, it's not something which could be levelled against Hodgson. Isn't this one of the youngest most inexperienced England groups for years?

Same players, same formation, Southgate won't be any different from Hodgson.

Why don't we go back to an English style instead, we've got to a point where we are ashamed to play a flat 442, work hard, have a big man little man front two and get some crosses in.

Failing badly to try and pass teams off the pitch the way Spain did 8 years ago now. Sick of hearing "we need to take a leaf out of Germany's book" and such like.

Frank's got this about right. Hodgson actually brought through a lot of young players to replace the old guard, admittedly he was partly forced due to retirement.

Dier, Alli, Rose, Kane, Lallana, Henderson, Smalling have all become regulars since Capello's days. The truth is, these lads aren't as good as the much maligned golden generation yet, they may never be. Also, aside from the Iceland game, the performances weren't too bad - albeit badly lacking in tempo.

Pointless appointing a fall guy who'll get the bullet if we don't win one of the next two tournaments, find the right man and trust them to build while acknowledging that there might be some backwards steps along the way. I can't see Southgate being any worse than anyone else.
