Just think how crap it would be if you woke up today and remembered you were playing at 1pm tomorrow or something. Some have recently said on here it doesn't matter to them but I imagine the overwhelming majority would be pretty pissed off if matches were regularly played away from this time.

Respect Saturday 3pm Football for everyone, not just for those the Chinese and Yanks don't want to watch.

One day it could be CUFC being handed a Monday night away match at West Bron.

I fully agree with the 3pm - 5pm Saturday TV blackout.

And fwiw it wouldn't bother me if some of our games were on a Sunday.

I know they can be watched on dodgy streams now but if all prem games were available on sky for example at 3pm saturday then league 2 would be completely knackered imo.

I agree. At first I don't think there'd be a massive change for lower league clubs, but over time as the next generations grow up with live Premier league Saturday 3pm football thrown in their faces, the temptation to go out and watch their local clubs would be less and less

Not sure on this one really.
Back in the day there were much fewer games on TV, these days there are games on virtually every day.
There are also numerous other sports on TV on Saturday as well.
Going to a match for me is about getting out, meeting your mates, maybe a couple of pints, for some youngsters an important part of your youth.
I think with multimedia and football on TV 24/7 you can't avoid it.
If you are a Carlisle fan who hangs around in Walkabout wearing a Liverpool shirt there comes a point where you have to make a choice of what you want.
So show football on TV whenever you like for me, knock yourselves out.
There's always something better you could do with your time than go to football on a Saturday afternoon, so if you don't want to come, there's no need to justify yourself, do what you like.

I assume that should read West Brom; I do strongly favour Saturday afternoon kick-offs, but Monday night at The Hawthorns would suit me fine.

Your against the 3pm ban aren't you ?

It'd certainly reduce L1/L2/non-league crowds by making it a lot harder for them to attract the 'floating' fan.

Yes I am and I can see your point, read the article - some agree with you and some don't. Glad people are talking about it but would you be bothered if you were in the Premier League and played say 10 matches all season at home at 3pm Saturday? Or even worse home and away?

Who would be against league 1 and 2 kicking off at 1pm and championship and premier league 3pm? A day of football for the football lover and easier to get to for those in the lower leagues with regard to away games.

Fair play, don't feel like that on that subject but do regarding stadium sponsorship - as long as it benefits the fans either by being invested in the team or lower ticket prices and not adding simply to the owners wealth.

Tradition? Let's go back to games on Christmas day, not having penalty kicks and having a bit of tape for a crossbar then? I'd contend that the honesty of club owners, communication that was clear, ticket availability and prices, standard of facilities, customer service and having a governing body with creative thinking, intelligence, and respect for working class supporters were all as important, or more important than kick off times. Football shouldn't exist primarily for white blokes aged 18-35 who want to have a few cans on the train every other Saturday. Nor should it antagonise them however, with Everton finishing a game on the south coast at 6.30pm on a Sunday. I have little optimism that people in positions of power will do anything positive for supporters in the forseeable future. The best we can do here is put appropriate pressure on our lunatic owners when they step out of line.

Fair point that. Imagine similar happened in the 70s and 80s mind but football obviously wasn't on as much back then on the the tele.

You do sometimes wonder what it's all about.
Tends to be people of all ages, decent number of kids and more women going to football than used to be the case, though obviously still more to be done there.
I like the games being on Saturday afternoons as it fits in with what I'm used to and enjoy.
The martyrdom of people travelling 500 mile round trips does grate on me slightly.
Away games used to be about the day out more than the desperate need to see the game for me.

We've had 3pm on a Sat for 99.9% of our History. It would probably be a novelty to begin having different days/times, well Home games would be. Away is a trek regardless for Carlisle, don't think it would affect as much - a lot of Away followings we take are from all around the Country in the first place.

In time though, it would probably start to grate, especially if it got to the level the likes of Leeds and Newcastle have to contend with in the Championship.

Cheers, like Weaver said when QPR went up and then down he actually preferred being out of the Premier League as so many weren't played even on a Saturday one season. Some people probably don't understand it till it actually happens to them.

See if you enjoy it you enjoy it, can't see the point in doing something you don't enjoy personally - life's too short. Can relate to the martyrdom comment a lot. Can't see how anyone would enjoy regularly playing on Sundays or Mondays at all in all honesty.

Anyone going to answer the question regarding how you would feel if say 50% of the home league games were played away from the Saturday 3pm kick off time? Needs to be answered by folk who go nigh on every home game currently really.

Have we ever played at half 2, or half 3? Some clubs used to. Tranmere seem to have got rid of their Friday games

Why change your original comment pal? Looks like you realised how silly it was. Decent debate this, doesn't need your nit picking.

Doesn't need anybodies narcissism more to the point.

We do play lots of games at 7.45 on a Tuesday.....more wouldn't be a bad thing. Lunchtime games seem to have the worst atmosphere in my experience

All depends on your circumstances though I suppose. I go through by car so 3pm Saturday or Sunday wouldn't be any different. If I usually went through on the train and had a few pints then I'd prob favour the Saturday. Monday nights would be different as I take my son but he doesn't go midweek games when he's got school.

Nobody has put you in charge, thankfully. If the mods want to ban me for simply daring to disagree with you that's up to them.
I wrote 150 words about my view of the state of English football in general. Your response was to make it about you. Imagine my shock

See when we played under 10s, 12s etc it was often on a Saturday morning for training and Sunday morning for the match. Not sure if that is still the same now?

Fair do's, I don't need you to answer why you changed your reply to ccu's comment anyway. All the best.

Who would be against league 1 and 2 kicking off at 1pm and championship and premier league 3pm? A day of football for the football lover and easier to get to for those in the lower leagues with regard to away games.

Baggieblue - thank god you never got that rep to do role if you think this is a joking matter!

Anyone that works shifts would be against it for a start. Screwed if your in earlies doing 6-2.

Lol, have another day off.

True though isn't it.

It is true yes, argument for everything really - what about someone who works Monday nights? Or children who go etc... Lot of angles to look at, 3pm Saturday probably the best for all. Just interesting how Germany does it - they have a range of times across the weekend and get good crowds throughout them and that is with all Bundesliga 1 and 2 matches being shown live by Sky. Think 18:30 matches on Friday probably wouldn't work in England though, lot of Germans finish work early on a Friday - not too sure it is the same in England.

The vital part there is probably that the Bundesliga doesn't clash with any other League really when it is on. People tend to follow their team in person if it is out of the Bundesliga and then watch the Bundesliga on tv, nothing wrong with that.

Games that get moved for TV should be decided on the basis of fans being able to make it not on just showing the couple of clubs who bring in the biggest audiences i dont think the crowd for say Rochdale v Bury or Oldham v Bolton would be any lower at 8pm on a Friday or 2pm on a Sunday than it would for 3pm on a Saturday

But with that in mind as a club were probably not the best club to ask having a 90 min drive before we even reach civilisation football wise.
