Am not free to make the Barnet match but am quite happy to give the club £20 if it means we can make a new signing, and am pretty certain plenty of others across the globe would do the same, however am guessing this wouldn't count towards the 55% wage income/cap - is there a way around this?

Me too, I'd be happy to make a contribution as a 'ghost" supporter. I'd be happy to pay more that SP and JN put together paid for their share of the club.

Edited to say " and I wont ask for it back"

Is the sum taken not from the previous years turnover? You could always order merchandise from the club shop?

You can update your pre season figures at the end of November if you think there have been significant changes to your pre season figures/predictions

I assume Curles change of stance just after Xmas was as a result of receiving the updated protocol from the league and finding out he had a lot less wriggle room that he originally thought he had.

But youre right i dont see how a couple of hundred extra people going on Saturday could influebe the figures one way or another.

Whereas if Jenkins lobbed 200k in they can be reassessed and have their spending figure increased by 110 grand.

I kind of do this paying for the flexi pass. When I am back in Carlisle I have an elderly Mam it is hard to leave so it is hard to get to the game... But I purchase knowing I am putting something into the club as well as buying club merchandise. It easier for me to atrend away games. At least I know I've contributed more to the club than SP and JP... and them being owners for a £ each!

If the local businessmen "Laffy" had gone through the missing fans would have returned and the extra 2k crowd a week would mean Curle could sign who he wanted... so the current board must take the shit for the current situation rather than the crowd for 1 game if we cannot strengthen the squad!

Don't know how it would go down but a good old fashioned bucket collection might embarrass the stooges .....'Fund a player" on the bucket ...and show fans are serious about supporting the team!

Why don't the players and the manager put money in?

A better team is an advantage to them because they are likely to get more win bonuses.

They should speculate to accumulate.

Well said. Missed points. We have all supported and shown our loyalty over the years and put our money in the boards poctets and we don't get the bonuses like board members do (not financial) more than time for board to solve this situation not the fans putting their hands in their pocketc again. Commendable though it is. Mark red fox you are correct I have had enough. Gone past the point of caring. Bur I do care and can not really do anything about it but know who can!

Only issue is we are short on time to really get the press and everyone behind it. How much would we need to raise? Done a similar thing for a kids charity couple of years ago....managed to get a lot of donations from local businesses, we ended up with just over 4K from 3 weeks of direct marketing and no interest from the media as it conflicted with the charities they support. It is different with it not being a charity as such.

If we get a 1000 over our average and I think its been said the average ticket price is £14 - thats £14,000 - VAT 20% - £11,200 which would fund a loan player for 3 months - minumum 6 months?

I'd happily donate £20 if its promised to fund new players. Im sure most of the ex pats in and around London would aswell who cant make many home matches.

I dont think we will get much over 5000 against Barnet. People will be waiting for the Blackpool, Doncaster and Portsmouth matches which should all be big crowds with big away followings.

The idea aint as bad as suggested then. the action from fans to prove a point that we are the lifeblood... and if the club was in the shit,i know folk would chip in as much as possible to help if it meant get rid of horsemen as well but yes doing something now would embarass them

I cannot see the Barnet game attracting a higher attendance than normal.
We will however, have larger gates at the Portsmouth, Blackpool and Doncaster games.
I have a feeling that the BOD have told Curle that no more money will be made available unless the attendance at the Barnet game is significantly higher, rather than this percentage of turnover crap.
In other words telling him no more money will be made available.

Not sure if I get all this??
People are wanting us to put more money into the club to fund transfers when we have a management team that has already surpassed its budget, did they just think that money would grow on the trees up and down Warwick Road if the current squad wasn't achieving?
Isn't this what budgets are for?
Its like asking 'your' boss for another £50 because I haven't quite got enough to pay the bills! (I know what my boss would tell me to do)
He would be better off working with the squad he's got, playing a system that they are all familiar with, playing players in their proper positions, recalling or not releasing some of the players he has done (and working with them to make them better), and generally just bloody well getting on with it.

You are right bry but these are desperate times ..we are trying to prove a point, that the fans are the lifeblood of the club! Even tho a budget should be set and kept to if we want promotion and give the team a boost, some players aren't gonna help that aim...for whatever reason.
AJ, although continuing to fund the team/club, together with his two sidekicks, has pi###d fans off by their attitude and seeming contempt even for people who support CU

Grimsby fans raised £100,000 before there promotion year to the football league.

Curle was told he didnt need to get rid of anyone and funds would be available for him to bring new players in January.

He was then told he had to get players off the books to bring new faces in - Which he has - how many have been released? 4/5?

He has now been told we have to get a crowd of 7,000 for the Barnet match.

The Board are just making this up as they go along.

£50,000 for 2 decent loan players from now till the end of the season could get us promotion.

When did Jenkins origianlly becore chairman? I dont think he has ever got a promotion in that time!

Hate to put a dampener on things as I think it's a good idea but with the transfer window closing next week do you think there's enough time to raise the funds to make a difference to our season? Maybe the start of January would have been a better time to do this.

I dont get some of these conspiracy therories

KC wants some new players we aint got much money so he is releasing players and trying to sell some so he can bring some better players in

If I was chairman I would be saying get rid of a couple aswell Mackee and Devitt hardly kicked a ball in anger and Ellis and Brisley called worse than shite on here anyhow but some one here go into meltdown and piss there pants.

The crowdfunding thing I'm right behind if we as fans can raise a good amount it shows the board right up creates a positive vibe about the place and brings the fans and team together knowing we are right behind them

When the billionaire story first broke and people were sceptical I remember thinking it should be clear enough during the transfer window if we are acting like a club about to be bought by one of the world's richest men.

2 years down the line... and we might get a player on loan for a couple of months if enough people chip in £20.

Clubs in the League 1 and League 2 operate within a Spending Constraint framework termed Salary Cost Management Protocol (SMCP). SCMP limits spending on player wages to a percentage of club Turnover. In League 1 clubs can spend a maximum of 60% of their turnover on wages - in League 2, the limit is 55%. There are no restrictions (in themselves) on the amount a club can lose or spend on transfer fees.

so if we gained last season

lets say £250,000 for the liverpool game then maybe £250,000 again for the Everton Game plus the sales of Potts and Dempsey say another £400,000 to £500,000

so lets say that's 1 million of turnover so we've basically spunked 55% (£550,0000) in the Summer window alone I find that had to believe

If Potts in sold from Blackpool this Window then we'll be due a sell on fee so that's more turnover for the budget

Correct me somewhere if I am wrong

Turnover definition

Under the SCMP rules, the definition of 'Turnover' is particularly important as Turnover is used to determine the maximum wage-spend. Within a traditional accounting perspective, there are usually only three elements of turnover:

Match-day Income
Commercial Income (such as sponsorship)
TV revenue (and any 'merit payments' based on league position)
However the Football League use a is broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions. Manchester City and Leicester for example seem set for punishment for their excessive losses (from UEFA and the Championship respectively) despite the fact that the owners have injected hard cash into the club to finance the spending.

Profit on player sales

Any profit made on player sales is included within Turnover on a cash basis when the instalments are received.

Player Wages and deductions

Under SCMP, 'Wages' relates to player wages only (director remuneration and general club staff wages are not included in the SCMP calculation). Player wages included in the SCMP calculation relate to all contract players (full contract, non-contract, multiplicity etc.) and loan players. Wage costs for players loaned out to other clubs are deducted for the period of the loan. Wage costs for Youth players on a professional contract are also excluded (i.e. players that have been in the club’s Youth Development scheme and have been given a pro contract); they must be 20 years of age or under at the start of the season to be discounted from the SCMP calculation.

Direct Costs incurred within Turnover

Within Turnover, clubs can include such things as Hospitality/Banqueting income (whether it is match day or non-match day income). The direct costs have to be deducted to reach a figure that is submitted on the SCMP return. For Hospitality/Banqueting for example, the Direct costs are all costs directly attributable to put on a hospitality/banqueting event. This would include food & beverage, direct staff and cleaning costs such as laundry etc.

From the newsandstar:

Carlisle Utd boss: Size of crowd against Barnet will determine spending power

Keith Curle says only a big crowd against Barnet next weekend will enable him to make the signings he needs before the end of the transfer window.

The Carlisle United boss is desperate to bolster his squad with new faces after a run of four games without a win.

Curle said he wants "two or three" additions before the end of the month to help the depleted Blues return to form.

But he said his recruitment will be at the mercy of the size of the crowd at United's next home game.

"If we get six-and-a-half to seven thousand, that potentially would free up money to bring in two players on loan," he added.

"If not, and we hit our average of around 5,000, the likelihood is there won't be any changes and we'll have to go with what we've got.

Hard to say them figures are correct stated above. Cup games especially the Everton one cost a lot more for policing, stewards etc. Money for potts and dempsey again we don't know how much we have actually received that would be counted into this years budget. Also with previous seasons making a few hundred thousand loss and the new additions of Clibbins, Phil king, wouldn't leave much of that money. All just guess work what they have really.

Yea I'm quite aware of all that, but this is exactly the problems I'm trying to get at.
And I realise that not every player acquisition is going to come up smelling of roses, but we have a couple of defeats (Grimsby and Colchester) and a couple of key injuries and the management team start flapping like a pigeon stuck in barbed wire.
I mean 'come on' what is the bloody point of putting a young player on the transfer list, who hasn't really featured all season then giving him a start the very next day, answers please on the back of the very same fag packet he obviously picks the teams.
And for what its worth Jenkins must be a very tolerant man to give money out, and see it squandered like it seemingly has been.
