CW did alright for us in his time at BP, I wish him well, Proctor seems a good signing, but I wish we`d managed to sign a couple of defenders.
You`re just jealous cos you can`t hear the voices

Good luck to Charlie but it does nark when a player only does half a job. Surely if he is good enough now he would be good enough at the end of the season! Money is always the driver but with CUFC sitting 3rd in the table, banging goals in for fun, hero on the terraces & a potential promotion to go on your CV etc etc etc why listen to agents & move now. Its not as if its gonna be his last big pay day at 24.
In the wider picture it is a worry that we are still devoid of a left back & centre half.
We are still well placed but mr Curle will have to use all his 'mysterious' powers to see us get promoted.

If I was Curle I'd be looking for another club. Proud of the fact I'd left the club in a much better position than when I came- against all the odds.

Understand selling Potts and Dempsey but in a season where we have a real chance at promotion? 250,000 is still 250,000 in June ffs

Obviously was listening more to his agents than Curle and all about the agents getting their cut...
What narks me is fat boy Abbott's involvement. Let's hope we get promoted and go to Valley Parade next season and stuff them!!!

I understand your original point, yet my point is we could have shown more ambition. We may have had no choice, or we may have not tried bloody hard enough to keep him here. We definitely haven't reinvested when we are in a really strong position in the league. All that being said if I was Curle I'd be looking for another club.

Yeh but still his decision to stay/leave. Notice on his twitter he left because Bradford are 'massive'. Nothing to do with agents influence or money then! Still say absolutely no footballing reason not to see the season out with CUFC.

So you have to look at it his way then don't you? Move to a bigger club, in a higher league with a bigger fan base, with wages that are probably double what he'll get here, and why should he have any loyalty to us when he is originally from Smoggy Land.
The lad has done exactly what 95% of other people would have done in his position.
Good luck Charlie.

I agree, good luck Charlie, well done lad and thank you.
Doesn't explain why we have dropped 8 players off the books and brought in 3. If we were mid table fine, but we're in an automatic promotion place with it in our hands.

It's a a domino effect , wykes transfer happend late, the club can't go and spend the money as it may break down last minute, so that leaves us with a few hours to complete our transfer business business and when your located in the middle of nowhere and takesh ours to get to makes it far harder to complete last minute deals.

I've got a feeling the Proctor one will be with a view to signing.

Do you have to do medicals for loan players? May be another reason if it speeds the process up.

Not sure you have to do medicals for anybody but everybody does because you don't want to spend money on an injured player. Doesn't matter whether that's a loan or not.

I think the Proctor deal would have been worded.... 'on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent signing'
if that was the case, LLG.

Kind of thought it was self explanatory!
The budget was spent in the summer, whether that was good thing or a bad thing I'll leave you to decide.
We are third in the league, but gates haven't really improved, we are out of both the major cup competitions with no extra money coming in from that.
The Liddle transfer has been financed by the chairman.
To get decent players here costs the club a small fortune, (especially with our location), I'm positive Curle has done his absolute best to strengthen the squad as best he can, and I'm certain that £250,000 will have to go somewhere to paying off debts (and NOT necessarily to the chairman's) as well as strengthening the team.
We are what we are I'm afraid, and if you can persuade the thousands of Cumbrians that don't come to matches, to come on down to BP then that would certainly help.

No i think a lot of the posters on here dont understand we are owned by a man with a personal wealth of nearly 5 million pounds to have to physically get people out of the door before signing others is nothing short of a joke

But still people wont get the message thru to him to either fund and run the club properly of fu ck off and potter round the garden like senile old tw ats are supposed to do.

Well he wont be at Bolton next season thats for sure so basically he has half a season to either earn a contract with us or play himself into a better one elsewhere.

So really his career is at a crossroads which direction it goes in is in his own hands.

£5 million is not a great deal in this industry.

He can't throw everything he's got at it, in his defence. I just wish he and his merry men would show us the courtesy of being open and transparent where possible.

I.m not actually suggesting he does what he should do is use that clout to stop the penny pinching if he had to put 50k in for this or 25k for that then just bloody do it and not have this farce of using the protocol as an excuse to me its pretty simple if your up against the limit try to register the one you want to bring in if they say youre at the limit then just release someone you were planning to let go.

There is no way that the wages bill as of this morning is anywhere near what it was on August 1st its as simple as that.

Haha you like a dig don't you! I'm criticising the club for a lack of ambition given the strong position in which we are in they may get lucky and Curle may pull it off but it won't be from any help off these lot. This is the best position the club have been in, in years and are you really happy with how last night went? Do you think they did enough?

I'm having a dig because you've talked a load o nonsense about the Wyke transfer from the beginning, you struggled to understand the concept of a release clause and you're criticising the club because of what they might not have done. The fact is you don't know (and neither do I) what went on during negotiations surrounding the Wyke transfer so you're not really in a position to criticise.

For what it's worth, yes I am quite happy how the transfer window went.

You see I do understand a release clause if someone, matches the value of it the club must allow the player to negotiate a contract should they want to leave. I'm criticising the club which I haven't done much of in the past for not getting players in to bolster the squad in various positions- mainly defense. If your happy with our defensive record and recruitment to cover injuries then fair enough, I'm not and I'm very worried we are gonna squander this chance. Now as has been the running of our club by those at the helm, I don't know how hard they tried, but I BELIEVE they probably didn't try hard enough.

I'm not talking about the reinvesting, I'm talking about the fact that you were moaning about the fact it was only £250k (which we had no say in yesterday) and the fact you were criticising the club because you thought they might not have done enough to keep him, when in fact you don't have a clue what they did or didn't do.

At no point did I say that 250k was not enough. I said if they could persuade him to stay, in the summer cos of his release clause and 18 goals which he'd have no doubt added to, they would still get 250k. I was criticising the club on reinvestment and genuinely believe they probably didn't try their best to keep Wyke.

Yes but the point I'm trying to make is how do you come to this conclusion ? "genuinely believe they probably didn't try their best to keep Wyke."

So just a total guess then? Not really grounds to criticise

Could we have held onto Wyke if they offered say 200k and 50k at the end of the season or were we in a position to demand the 250k upfront as both scenarios are meeting the 250k at the end of the day, not sure how this works.

More than once the club said they didn't have to sell Wyke, so even tho the release was triggered could they not have just said Not for Sale, come back in the summer!

Just seem to be going round in circles. I think last night went terribly and fear for our promotion push. This is just my opinion as is the pillocks running the club probably saw pound signs over glory.

The track record for this Board of Directors speaks for itself- from having an exciting side on the verge of the Championship, they have took it back to the bottom division. No ambition. Poor manager choices, apart from KC. They say they want new ownership but they turn down all offers of help and they make up stories to justify their in abilities to embrace change for the better.

Well normally I don't get involved in the bashing. Yes they've done all that. Learn from mistakes. I don't believe in the club throwing away money if we were mid table but being in this position have a it of backbone and take a gamble. I'm personally bewildered by it and hope they have the good grace to at least show exactly how the my money has been spent along with fellow donors.

Another probably to go with the maybe's, might have's and may not have's. Like I say, just total guesswork.
