Shame for the fans but they really don't like us going off their forums so sod them really and them blaming us for wrecking seats that were already falling apart.
The north east has now lost Gateshead, Darlington and Hartlepool from the league, a shame for us in a way as they were some of our nearest derby games.
Unfortunately it was the one o clock kick off time merchants Newport that survived so back to playing on that swamp.

Not if we win our next 3 games.

I actually think it's a real shame that they've been relegated. I'd have them in and Newport out any day.

Well pointed out, a terrible error missing that one.
Whitby and Blyth are also two strong non league clubs from that area.
My Dad once got offered a trials with Hartlepool back in the day but they were called Hartlepools then though I believe.

I'm a bit gutted for them to be honest. Any fan I've met seem to be good crack, only the ones to the right of the away end giving it large and a few keyboard warriors seem to not like us. Would have much rather they were in the EFL than Newport.

Yes, since Darlington have gone down they consider us our rivals and always bring decent numbers. Hopefully we will go up and have Blackburn as our rivals.

Only that it's another Northern team lost for a club who plays on a pitch that substitutes as a Cows pasture when the various sports teams don't use it.

I'm sorry, you couldn't meet a nicer more helpful bloke than their media officer. The club photographer has helped me out a couple of times in the past when I have had work at two places in the same day. No fun for them wondering if they'll still have a job.

They've had to apply for re-election more times (14) than any other team in the history of the Football League than any other, and we're lucky enough to be voted back in each time before the Comference/Pyramid system made football more meritocratic and less of an old-boys-club closed shop.
So absolutely zero sympathy.

I fail to understand how anybody could possibly rather have them relegated than Newport but for me i.d sooner have Cheltenham gone than both of them theyre just holding on to a place that a forward thinking non league club could have.
For fu cks sake theyve had one of the countrys richest blokes owning them for the past 10 years but they havnt made an inch of progress in that time.

Couldn't give a toss who is relegated, whoever they are finished bottom of the pile on merit and therefore gets the chop.

2 promotions from 4th tier and 4 seasons in 3rd tier since they first got promotion to the Football League in 1999.
By that criteria they've contributed more than just holding onto a league place in that time since automoatic promotion from the Conference began in 1987 than Lincoln, Kidderminster, Halifax, Boston, Accrington, Chester, Barnet, Dagenham, Stevenage, Crawley and Aldershot have since getting promoted .

Yes I'm sorry to see them go down. Proper football club with decent fans. Some took to the message board to slag off Carlisle for ripping up seats (2 seasons in a row). That's cause we've got a decent percentage of morons as fans - I'm sure we'd have a moan too!
Met a few Pools fans over the years, liked them all. They're northern and their pitch isn't a cow field like Newport or Cheltenham. Would pick Hartlepool any day over them. Plus there is the travel, localish team, revenue etc.

And where has getting promoted got them ? within a couple of years they.ll be back in non league i confidently predict and you could argue the point that all the teams above them are bigger and better than them

Remember that nasty game at Cheltenham where we needed something and got a draw.
Not keen on that lot either, another shit pitch as well but I guess that is how they survive.
I did however used to like Hereford from that neck of the woods, decent club and decent fans till it went tits up.

No pleasure in seeing them go, obviously you go down on merit but sad it turned out to be them.
Pretty much felt the same when tranmere went down as well.
Proper football clubs that have been miss managed really. A bit like we were when we went.
I would hope to have them both back sooner rather than later especially given some of the alternative clubs.

Guy I know is a Director, haven't had the guts to call him yet. He used to take us regularly. Not really sure what happened this season. At the end of 15/16 season they were playing decent football, Bates, Jackson, Mangan and Carroll at the back looked solid, Thomas was getting forward and the club was looking forward to this season. Now disaster, great shame

Just watching Look North there, been a bit of a mad season for the region.
Newcastle, Blyth, Spennymoor, and possibly us, promoted.
Sunderland, Hartlepool, York, and soon to be Boro, relegated.
Darlo made the play-offs but were denied their place only leaving Gateshead with nothing to show for the season.

Owned by their fans in level 8 theyre getting crowds not far off what they got in the league

You have to remember Cheltenham is a big rugby area and full of Gloucester fans. Their chairman is a really nice fella and loves the club...just believes that spanking a load of cash to get promoted is the wrong way to go about things. I happen to agree with him, football clubs at our level should be self sufficient and not rely on a sugar daddy to support them... christ, the last thing our football league needs is another Wigan.
I'm a bit gutted for Hartlepool fans. I know a few of them and they are decent lads who could very easily support newcastle or Boro but turn up to watch their local team. Newport is a shit hole, their pitch is embarrassing and they generally beat us. I'd sooner see the back of them...they should be in the Welsh league anyway.

They can seem like cocky beggars but that makes for good sport! I enjoy 'edge to the games' and the away trip is an adventure.
It's great having a rival that you can more often than not beat!
Newport's pitch is not fit to grace the league.
I hope Hartlepool make back soon.

A dangerous time to go down to The Conference.
Considering only one goes up and one by the lottery of the play-offs it isn't easy - even a well run club could waste loads of money and achieve nothing.
When you have Leyton Orient, Hartlepool, Tranmere/Forest Green, Aldershot, Dagenham, Barrow, Fylde, Gateshead, Dover, Macclesfield and Wrexham in the same league all wanting to go up it isn't a doddle.
Then the season after if you don't go up you have the two who come down and possibly York, Darlington or Stockport coming up to compete against.

There are some good strong teams in the Conference, they should incorporate it into the Football League, rename it League 3 and have 3 or 4 teams involved in promotion / relegation with League 2.
You`re just jealous cos you can`t hear the voices

Aye Hereford averaged 2821 in Evostik this season which is pretty good going. I don't think they got that many when they were in the league.
Doubt we'd get that kind of support in a similar situation.

I was pleased that Orient and Hartlepool got relegated because now they join us in having a Conference season on their CV.
It's the footballing equivalent of having your head flushed in the toilet. Hope they both come back, though.

Lot of rumours going about as to whats likley to happen Coxall resigned and him and the other majority shareholder want 600k for their 75% and its not clear whether they.ll fund the club thru the summer as in effect every pound they put in will reduce what they end up with assuming of course they can find someone to give them anything.
Theyre taking to the trust but theyre not really set up to move anywhere near that quickly even if they wanted to

They've got an experienced lad up front who's banged a few goals in in his time. Been out injured a fair bit this season, though I believe.

Wouldn't mind us having a look at Trevor Carson if he's available and Gillespie leaves. He's been out injured for a while but a very good keeper at this level.

Sorry to see them go, local away game for me as live in Newcastle. Always good for a few pints and their fans are always decent crack. I fear that is the last we may see of them in the league.
