Anyone else worried about how quiet it seems around our transfer activity?
It's been 12 days since the play offs and I haven't seen any names linked with us anywhere really, hope we get a few in by the end of the week.
Mansfield have already signed a whole new starting XI!

It is a concern considering they said last week they wanted to do business quickly.

TWELVE!!! bloody hell. But seriously it's over 2 months till the season starts, No need to panic, Not like footballers come back from the off season having put 1-2 stone on and we desperately need them in before July 1st

I reckon Billy Paynters new employers will disagree with you on that one, whoever they are.

We seem to do it right these days not making mouth go and everyone knowing our transfer targets and then having to make excuses when we get turned down..
I am surprised a couple on here havnt made a few names up just to get us going though

Unless we've got 500k I think thats unlikely , he still has a good length on his contract at Barnet.

Maybe that's where the EWM loan comes in, perhaps our safe and pedestrian custodians have been persuaded by KC to push the boat out to get promotion with 'ambitious' signings, more of the Nicky Adams type, less of the Junior Joachim. Just hope he's got some ambitious defensive signings lined up...

Lot of work to do, we only have one real forward in Miller , our best defender gone leaving us with major surgery needed, unfortunately an entire new back line is not going to happen , just hope the players brought in bring out the best of what we have. On a positive note the midfield if all fit looks strong.

We need replacements for Jabbo and Wyke.
Replacement for Raynes & Ellis
Hopefully Bailey will turn down the contract to release more wages.
Need a decent keeper as well.
Midfield is fine as long as Kennedy doesn't go but if he does a replacement for him as well.
Personally id transfer list the entire defence.

Could end up like Pokémon as in gotta collect them all - three black todgers though, we need some of the white players to chip in to add a bit of variety.

Adams has said in interviews that he's got a lot of mates at other clubs. He was at Rotherham at the same time as Joe Skarz so probably knows him from there.

At this rate it looks like we'll be going into next season with this team:
No keeper
Miller brisley Ellis Grainger
Lambe Joyce Jones Adams
Devitt

Plenty of time left but I suspect we've missed out on a couple of signings this week. Porter possibly given we've chased him in the past but also the lad Mansfield signed from Southend this week.
Both Crewe and Mansfield very active at the minute

Would have thought Curle had made contingency plans for both victory and defeat in the playoffs.
We are far too slow out of the blocks here. It's not time to panic yet, but we're in need of some quality signings soon if we are to avoid making do with second best. Also, how long until Kennedy gives us a response? Hope he's not going to [censored] us about.
I'm wondering if cashflow is a more immediate problem than we thought?

If Jenkins isn't allowed to put any more cash in then the revenue will have to come from season tickets and lets not forget that the summer months are a always lean on cash coming in and current players still need paying.
Don't know what the situation with the EWM money as to how much there is and how much they are allowed to spend (if any) on players.

I actually wouldn't mind us changing our outlook.
By the look of things we're targeting experienced proven players in all positions. But I think we've already got a lot of experience in our team and what we're actually lacking is a bit of youthful energy and pace. I wouldn't mind us taking a chance on some young, hungry players who maybe haven't quite made it at championship or premier clubs and are looking for a chance to kick start their careers.

Sad that Mansfield are a more attractive proposition than us. Beaten by them 4 times?
Hardly inspiring stuff from the club.

T be fair they are beating a lot of league 1 clubs to players. They are chucking money around for fun.
Isn't it funny that wherever Steve Evans goes, big piles of cash seem to follow him for him to spend on players...

Mansfield are taking a risk, Giving out big contracts. A lot of similarities to the summer under Kavanagh here. Big contracts for named players, But if they're not upto it there's not much the club can do.

Apparently for one player at a L1 club, we offered to match his current wage... Mansfield doubled it!

Hes on a crap deal money wise and although theyve upped it in their offer he doesnt think its anywhere near what hes worth.
Added to that they have 3 other keepers all with FL experience. So i.d guess that it will all come down to how much of the budget he has available to him Bowyer wants to use up when he has other keepers who are already contracted.
