The interviewers love her, it's like Bear baiting, you could see the smirk on Mernagham's face.

He was definitely better prepared than Abbott. She was like a stroke victim with an ill fitting toupe. The answers to the questions over the Report were non existent and the interviewer ended up giving her clues.
Where is Norman Tebbit when we need him?

I'm a Labour supporter but couldn't bring myself to vote for them as they stand.
If I was to compare Labour with football then they are Carlisle United 1986 quality, and a good few more years of dross in the near future.

Abbott would be moved to a far lesser position were the unthinkable to happen on Thursday.
She is a car crash, and her current position is only hers due to the power struggle within the PLP. Getting into power would bring the Blairites back to the table, and give Labour a more balanced front bench.
Alas, you'll not see me proven right or wrong.
Minimum of 360 Tory seats, potentially many more.
Labour will not gain votes in marginal, though they will elsewhere. I'd not be surprised to see Labour match 2015's voter total, but they'll lose seats.

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...
What I don't get is why the whips or Party PR's put these people up in these circumstances? They're just cannon fodder for time served journo's looking to take the piss. Who in their right mind would put Abbott back in front of a camera after her mathematical gaff during the Council elections? People have sat there and thought 'well it went well last time let's put her up again'. At least the Tories have twigged that May is a liability and have, shall we say limited her outings. These people want to run our country for us and they think putting Abbott and Bradley, Rudd and McDonnell out as examples of why we should vote them in.
Jesus wept.

Did Abbot not nearly spew out she invited herself in that interview?
I thought Corbyn had given her the job of guarding the Bee Jar in the Labour HQ basement for the rest of the election.

Diane Abbott is one of the major reasons Labour are unelectable. She constantly shows herself up as a compete idiot. And im not just using that as an insult, she is a bona fide idiot. Labour are seriously suggesting she could be the third most powerful person in the country as Home Secretary. Yet she is so clueless it defies belief. Maybe its because Corbyn used to shag her and the flame still burns, or maybe its just because nobody else in the PLP is loyal to him, i have no idea, but you have to question the judgement of a man who makes her his number three minister. She is a racist who doesn't stand by her principals. And that was before the numerous car crashes of this campaign shone a light on her lack of a brain.

Why thank you for those kind words Deeksme-if you think Abbott merits being the third most important person in government, then you have every right to vote for her.I happen to think, like most, that she is well past her sell by date and unemployable-her recent media interviews have descended into derision and bear baiting by interviewers.Hardly worthy of being Home Secretary but a symptom of a shadow cabinet rather thin on talent due to a rush for the door by more mainstream Labour MPs.

While Boris Johnson is in politics no one else will ever come close.
Interesting to see what Boris does next, the two major funders of international terrorism, Saudi and Qatar, have broken off diplomatic relations and there are stories of panic buying in Doha. Means armies of moderate terrorists will start shooting each other in countries like Syria. And Boris has to choose a side! The Saudi have already threatened 'British bodies on British streets' after a corruption enquiry so lets hope Boris gets this one right! With Boris's track record of flogging weapons of mass destruction to anyone with a suitcase of dollars I fear Diane Abbott may prove to be the better option

May seem a strange response, but I do know several younger Labour activists who have worked hard for the Party, under difficult circumstances.
This kind of car crash self publicity from her, really shxts on those people who have worked their arse's off over the previous months.
What was Corbyn thinking about ?

I think youve got it the wrong way round the what you call Blairerites i prefer to call proper labour MP.s wont be coming to any table whether they win or lose they have a plan which will see Corbyn gone within a year.
Although the snap election has caused them some problems and thrown a couple of spanners in the works short of Corbyn winning yet somehow losing a big proportion of the 180 proper Labour MP.s it can only be good for the 180 real Labour MP.s in the long run.
Best result for labour long term would be to drop to as near as possible 180 seats but those 180 being the anti Corbyn 180 just where would him and his 600k followers go then ?

Won't add to the scorn towards Laffy, others have already said what I thought.
Agree with the sentiment that Abbott is, and always has been, a pillock though. But have also thought myself that she's seemed unwell for a couple of weeks - even when she's wrong and talking utter pap she usually has enough front to get a couple of digs in.
Was talking to a pal about this who got it spot on - she basically failed a four week long, public job interview on the first question (police numbers) and has been forced to carry on the charade anyway. Cannot reckon with how much that must wreck someone psychologically.
I've actually felt sorry for her this week and winced when I've heard any newsreader say she was with them. Glad she got pulled from Women's Hour for her own good.

She was ill alright, ill-prepared, ill-informed and ill-suited to hold office.
The subsequent email hoax which she has fallen for seems to confirm that there is nothing significantly wrong with her health.

To be frank, and after unfortunately slating her the other night,I do now think she is genuinely ill.She appeared vacant and in a trance like state.Im a human being too and if she is unwell,it's right she is taken aside.Dont think there is any need to berate her anymore-whether you like or dislike her politics.
I used to enjoy her programme with Portillo but recent events suggests something isn't right.

She is apparently genuinely ill and without wanting to fan flames or spread rumours (I know nothing of interest), I'd suggest mental health issues are behind this.
Seems like Jeremy Corbyn has tried to support her but must have seen that she was in danger of completely derailing his successful campaign - not suggesting they will win but the media have softened to him since realising that his ideas stack up and they can't ruffle him.
I hope she makes a speedy recovery once she is out of the pressure cooker of an election campaign, people in her constituency have been quick to praise her work in her constituency.

All seem to be forgetting that the reason Abbott has the job is none of the other MPs would take a post in his cabinet. Most refused, others later resigned.
Some of them have 2 or 3 roles because of this.
3/4 of his own MPs won't vote for him, so how can voters be expected to.
As for that tosser Starmer, he said blatantly lied through his teeth on the Corbyn voter policy (tried to make out he did not know how Corbyn had voted on a policy Starmer was leading. And it was not even Morgan who tripped him up but the one there for her undoubted beauty!

Bad press this for Labour, she must have shown some signs of illness prior to or after the initial Policing question but even if she stubbornly wanted to carry on the interviewer would rub their hands together as Corbyn was throwing her to the lions every time.
Plus she is only having a break and will be back, I do wish her health to recover quickly but I cannot see her political career recovering from this,

Possibly just stress but I fear it could be as laffy unfortunately mentioned jokingly , early signs of dementia . However She has diabetes so may be she just needed a Marrs bar. As I said earlier she has appeared on QT acting/sounding strange .
Didn't realise she is 63!

Strange how she becomes "ill" at the business end of her job .
Skipped house of Commons Brexit Vote "migraine"
Becomes badly on last lap of election
The cynic in me says she's a politician who been winging it for years and the higher up the ladder she goes the more she is being found out.
An apology will follow if my thoughts are wrong.

Convenient that shes suddenly ill after making a complete fool of herself over several weeks. Of course i could be wrong but i dont think shes suffering from anything more than diabetes. Diabetes doesn't make you a fool. She is an idiot and has been found out, its that simple. She isnt doing anything she hasn't for years, its just as shadow Home Secretary the spotlight is on her more than it ever has been in the past. Labour have gone into panic mode and pulled up the drawbridge with the 'long term illness' excuse. She was relived of her position by the Labour leadership, not at her own request. Of course these days mention the word illness and the fact shes made a complete tool of herself becomes irrelevant and you arnt allowed to criticise her anymore. You might think my assessment is cynical but its more cynical to use illness as an excuse for ineptitude.

Well if she knows she has diagnosed mental health issues she should just come out and say so and i.ll bet the media would clearly then leave her alone.
Its pretty sure from what hes said over the last couple of days that Andrew Neil knows exactly whats up with her and that whatever it is its genuine but also that he has no intention of letting on what he knows.

Not cynical, just realistic. Although maybe she is ill, but if that's the case it's likely a stress-related illness brought on by her incompetent buffoonery.

She didn't look very "ill" when she was photographed heading to work on Tuesday morning, at the exact same time she should have been appearing on Woman's Hour.
