B team to be drawn on Wednesday.

How can they draw the B team ?

One of the changes for this year was to cut down on the travel distances so whats the point putting us with our two nearest competitors and then doing a draw that could add in the furthest distant B team.

I went to all of them last year. I totally get the boycott thing and I disagree with the PL reserves playing but I miss games being abroad and, well, its Carlisle so I'll go anyway. Got to say here were some cracking games as well, Oldham, Blackburn, very good

Precisely why this competition is a good thing.

Thankfully the vocal Luddites on here and agenda-driven Jon Colman haven't succeeded in killing this competition

How is playing 4 or 5 games a season going to benefit them... seriously? Why don't they send them out on loan for 6 months with a L2 club.. surely that would benefit them more?

This is all still an attempt to force B teams into the league structure ultimately. That is what the Premier League wants. They will keep paying bribes until they get it...

You are a mug if you are a lower league fan and support this cup by showing up at any games. Each to their own though I guess.

Four games against the likes of Jabo and Joyce are bound to educate 20 year-olds about the realities of league football. The problem with six month loans is they can block progress of our own youngsters.

I'm glad the 1,200 'mugs' who went to watch this competition last season at Brunton will be able to enjoy more of the same this season.

We don't play our own youngsters anyway. That is a lame argument. We often end up signing loan players permanently anyway so it is worth getting loans in as an extended trial.

Cameron Salkeld played a blinding cameo role versus Blackburn under 23, but you wouldn't have seen that...

No. But I have seen Cameron play many times and know his family so it's not a surprise. Id like to see him given a chance in a game that matters, in a league fixture, instead of against some kids from a poor acadeny. Then again he was up against a 36 year old Wes Brown.. great experience that for the Blackburn youngster.

This first world conspiracy claptrap is getting a bit dull, promoted by those without the ability to think for themselves.

Allow me to summarise: the reforms have breathed new life into a failing competition, giving us much needed £s, additional games (important without a reserve team) and the chance to see different talent at BP....

I have an inside leak Waltero, on good authority, from a reliable source, that has usually been right before, that The Archer was seen in a car park the other week getting out of a Klingon cloaking vessel. Apparently for a meeting , not the heads of department meeting, another meeting before five somewhere else. I don't know if KC was there as there's confusion now over who told what to whom. But the whole story was other worldly to me.

What is this "new life" you speak of? Is it sentient?
If you think the competition is better now, fair enough that's your opinion, but at least have the balls to just back your own opinion without making up lies about new life being breathed into the competition, when teams literally couldn't give tickets away for free, attendances were massively down, gate receipts massively down despite more games, and a number of clubs had their record low attendances.

Sentient?

What about the 74k+ who went to the final, more than for any other trophy final since 2000 or the fact that there was a big jump in the number of English under 21s getting games. To be fair, it would be hard to spot these trends with your head in the sand.

A new shirt?!!!

There's no-one pulling my strings. I've been a big supporter of these changes since they were announced - check through my postings (if you're really bored) to see. The majority of posters on here don't like the changes, I get that, but it's not going to stop me chipping in with my opinion.

74k consisting of Oxford who dropped their boycott as they'd got excited by a trip to Wembley, and Coventry who'd have created far more headlines for their SISU battle by protesting outside. Sod the pair of them...

Yes there was a big jump in U21's getting a game, these stats from @uglygame show it...

Sadly most of them are stuck at U23 level with the odd loan for 'action', whereas 25yrs ago they'd be at smaller Clubs, play games, get noticed and get a live up the ladder...

The only people who thought the competition was failing was Harvey and co along with a bunch of owners who voted for it because te PL money would mean they could save themselves a similar amount.

Now yes the increased money is welcome but if the FL got their tongues from up the PL arses they could make the competition worth even more to the clubs than it does with the PL money.

1] Sell the TV rights as a stand alone competition not as an add on to the league rights.

2] Either take the game away from Wembley unless they agree to reduce their charges [ Their charge for the EFL Trophy final is said to be 10 times what they charge for both the Conference play off final and the FA Trophy final game] dont forget the higher the crowd the more they make from the day [ estimates say this years final made them over £3m ]

There are grounds with capacities around 60k which in four years out of five would be enough [ some of which to get the business on a day their ground would be unused would offer use of their stadiums charge fee] For instance ask the RL what they pay for Old Trafford for their play off final.

3] The way to increase crowds in the earlier rounds is simple there is no draw you are just scheduled to play the nearest by miles team left in the competition ensuring every game is a derby game

4] Sponsorship of the competition is done with a company who genuinely want to encourage community/ supporter participation and involvement say a competition for schools where the winning entrant wins 10 grands worth of say DIY goods for the school as well as the same for their local club Remember the companies who used to sponsor this competition used to renew their deals 2 and 3 times over so dont tell me they didnt consider it good value including one who offered double what their rival predecessors were paying just to get their name on it.

Remember this has only come about because Harvey is driving the agenda and is in all likelihood is in the pay of the PL to do just that so the first thing the fans [ and the clubs] need to do is see thru him and fu ck him off once and for all and then the clubs can take control of their own competition and end the million pounds plus that flows back to the FL from the final that money alone comes to more than what the PL are currently putting in.

"The difference is the club belongs to the town and its fans. When I'm done here it.ll be better than when I came in and it.ll still belong to the town and its fans" Andy Holt. May 2017

Shows you how ridiculous this competition is.

Fairly good write up of Postman Sean and his joke of a competition

Don't do it DB, resist the urge. Get the wife to tie you up and lock you in the spare room if needs be. If you go you'll feel unclean and any amount of scrubbing will not make it any better.

No UB40 played last month...

Listed as U21 teams on EFL site, even though these teams don't have such a thing?

Just shows what a total farce it is. I was sure they were listed as U23s last season. Or maybe that was just on footy manager ;)
