as we move towards the end of this "election" in which we a) had no say over the candidates and b) there is no secret ballot (as you have to give your name of course when you vote)....does anyone know who is counting these votes?

Given a split has opened up between 3 candidates and 1 as to how they would approach the ownership issue I would think this is even more important than ever....or is the election SO Blackadderish that Comical/SK/PK will be counting the votes as well..

I am genuinely thinking of using this vote as an example to my sixth form citizenship class as to why elections have laws governing this - hope the BP gang are proud of that fact...

I thoroughly expect Claire to win.

I'm with you on this in that is the vote being carried out by an independent adjudicator.

Also with only 11 applications I see no reason as to why all 11 couldn't of been put to the public vote.

It's also no coincidence that the meeting was held when those external to the club apart from Claire's brother in law were unable to attend.

I wasn't the only one external to the club there Mullen!

I think the plan was to ask JN, SP and AJ to count first and Hitler to do a secondary check. Knighton was going to be there but just in a supervisory capacity.

On a serious note; I have no idea who is counting but I'm sure we'll find out.

which is quite frightening if you think about it - one of the candidates doesn't know who is counting the votes; just let that sink in for a sec....THAT is what AJ/JN have put in place.....

wonder if it'll be before or after the fact....

Who else was there Stu?
Who did you vote for?
If a candidate doesn't know who is counting the votes then that's worrying?
What was the overall results of the voting, why aren't they published.

I'm an accountant, I can turn any number into any other number. I should count.

Maybe we can have a vote on who should count.

James from Global heating was there
The rest is in the clubs hands?

Exactly no other external person as James is part of the clubs business club.

I still stick by that it should be cancelled and re ran as people have been misled with your relationship with Claire and voted for her not knowing.

Should be re run with all 11 candidates and be a proper fans rep.

I'm honestly not a shit stirrer or bitter I just don't think it's fair and puts the club into the spotlight for the wrong reasons yet again.

We get laughed at by other clubs because we mess everything up.

It's all very well coming on here saying it's fair and I believe you when you say it is.

However from those on the outside it stinks and with everything at the club being secretative and a closed shop just adds fuel to the fire.

Aye Victoria Park for example had a massive knowing grin on its fyass as i drove past about 2ish last saturday. I do agree its been a total shambles. Considering the post is for a year and were now well into that year all that needed to be done was all 11 applicants to be able to be voted for. How the vote is gonna be counted though is beyond me. At a guess id say Andy Halls dept will be doing it. Id say he'd do it fairly but theres prob no way anyone would know if they did just announce the winner they fancied.

James from Global Heating is still external. Being a part of the Business Club doesn't make him internal. I could pay £1,000 to be part of the Business Club. I'd still be external.

You have your view, I am certainly not secretive and for me to reply shows it isn't a closed shop. The process would of been the same outcome if I had voted or not.

I'm on record saying I won't be voting, it isn't for the reasons on this thread and the twitter one, but that has shown that I'm right.

Why haven't all 11 people been given the chance? Are the club afraid of something? Why don't we know who is in charge of the count?

The excuse given was that they didn't want a hangus the monkey situation but the voting public voted for him so be it.

They didn't want a very critical person on the board a person that knows too much. Again no surprise I didn't get in but not the other two.

Exactly the same reason that I won't be voting - that being said; a MASSIVE thanks to Andy/SK/PK - two lessons worth of material here at least... ;)

Closes midnight tomorrow, anticipated they'll know Saturday. Not sure on announcement arrangements.

If I'm successful, fully intend to get first forum type event underway before end of month.

To be frank, I have reservations about this idea and process and think it could be a damp squib. What I don't want to see is the Club anounce something like "X won" or "X won, Y was second, Z third and W fourth". I'd also object to "X 42%, Y 33%, Z 16% and W 9%. The only correct announcement can be a full disclosure of the votes count for each participant so that we can see how many of the fanbase were bothered enough to vote. I'd also like to see a fan involved in the disclosure process. There won't be an actual count though will there? the technology will just spit out the result. The problem is, no one person should deal with the vote in isolation. Someone needs to be looking over that person's shoulder and it should be one or us.

Whether or not Stu had any influence on Claire's application is irrelevant. it is right what the others are saying in that the process is completely wrong and takes away trust and adds fuel to the fire.

With the secrecy at the club, conspiracies call it what you want I cannot believe the club let a family member onto the panel who got into the final four and not expect bad publicity for it.

I keep banging my head on the table with the goings on at BP. It would make an excellent far fetching comedy that would likely win lots of awards but sadly for us it's real.

One of the applicants hasn't a clue who is counting the votes FFS.

Do you genuinely believe that no other candidates knew people on the voting panel? If I remember correctly Mouldy stated that his family business has had dealings with the club in the past... Does this not raise concerns for you as a conflict of interests? Carlisle, and Cumbria in general is not that big that there won't be a cross over people applying for the position with the club or those on the panel.

For the record I don't think that there would be any issue if Mouldy did win, merely using this as a counter argument to Mullen's repeated digs at Claire.

Give it a rest will you ffs. This is a puppet position to keep the masses quiet. Anything of real importance will be kept at arms length from the successful candidate. Im half tempted to vote for claire now as she seems to be being made a scapegoat for this process. Wasnt gonna vote before.

This is just another distraction from the real story of non existant billionnaire

I certainly won't be giving it a rest. This is a position that the club are advertising as an open and honest one which it isn't.

It's lost all credibility for me before it's even begun. Yes I agree in that the position is a front and the person will be used by the board to divert critism.

We are a complete laughing stock and it's embarrassing following us. A mystery made up billionaire, a director who tweets private conversations, treating people that want to help with utter contempt, an unfair fans rep process and directors telling supports to F off. It's all symptomatic of the problem with the club in that away from the football side it's a total disaster. I'll add the trust in that in that the rep hasn't once communicated what is said done in meetings joke.

The club were clear there would be a sift. You admitted on here you put in a cheeky application and didn't expect to be chosen because of it. You weren't. Quit being so bitter about something you were clear at the outset you wouldn't attain and at the time weren't bothered about.
I have no idea how the rest of the panel voted but your sniping at one of the candidates is making you look ridiculous given that it wasn't just one persons vote that put them into the top 4.

"The club were clear there would be a sift" - there's the problem, the people doing the sifting are not to be trusted. Either let the supporters pick someone, or don't bother. I'm not voting for any of the candidates as it's clearly a shambolic process. I don't get how anyone could possibly disagree with that.

I'm not bitter and certainly not bothered about my application as yes was a joke. It's the process and fairness of it all.

I understand your sticking up for Claire but it's the process which is wrong it just happens to be Claire that had a family member on the panel.

From the outside it looks completely silly

The process is flawed I agree... but you repeatedly pointing out an individual, potential conflict of interests is what's getting dull - I'm pretty certain, as stated further up this thread, or on the other one that another applicant's family business (that he runs) has had close business dealings with the club... is this not as much of a conflict of interests? Or are you ignoring this as you appear to have it in for Claire specifically. If your issue is with the flaws in the process, talk about all the flaws.

Yes the process was flawed and all 11 applicants should of been electable to stop any conflicts of interest and make it open something the club say is but isn't.

I agree with Oldhamblue in that the election is laughable a pre vetted exercise to stop those they don't want.

Having a family member on the voting panel is completely different to having had family members having done work years ago.

Not quite the situation as far as I remember - the company that the candidate runs has business connections with the club.

Just checked and the exact words are: "I’m Matthew Spooner, Director of local and moderately established family business World Group – more commonly known as Window World – who have, historically, had a long standing relationship with the club, more personally Dick Young, spanning back to the pre-Knighton era."

Also, just to reiterate from what Matthew has stated during his campaign I don't think that this would be a conflict of interests. I can't see how you think this may be any less a conflict of interest to somebody having a family member on the panel - bearing in mind this would suggest Matthew will have business relationships with people on the panel.

Hi guys, just for transparency; we were proud to donate to the club their first scoreboard, that was located on the Neil Centre. We also painted the front in the current cream and blue - our corporate colours at the time- along with various other sponsorship throughout the years.

At the moment, we have no dealings with the club directly and have not since since just before FS left.

As for relationships with people on the panel, all sponsorship deals were done before my time with the company, however I have been involved with a few discussions over the last 5/6 years about future sponsorship opportunities.

Cliff, my old man, did get to know DY very well, in a business sense, through the sponsorship however, to my knowledge, no member of the current set up, staff or executive level, have done business with us from a company or personal point of view.

The only dealings we have with any of the directors/shareholders is when we need and fire stops for school installation works which we source locally from Longhorn - Steven Patt.

In properly run elections there is an electoral roll, a secret ballot and a returning officer to ensure the whole process is beyond reproach.

In this election not only is there none of the above, but we won't know if all the votes cast were counted, we won't know if people voted multiple times for the same candidate. Just two reasons for not trusting the outcome.

The whole process is pure shan, just like the meaningless position. I am not voting. Lots of reasons, and most of them have already been mentioned by others.

Their had to be some vetting otherwise some complete cretin could have got on the ballot sheet and the vote is open to all including non cufc fans. They could have then got friends family work mates etc to vote even though they couldnt give two shits about cufc.
