Is it me but does anyone else think theres something wrong with this player .He looks knackered goes around with head down not bothered attitude . Im not a doctor but he should get himself checked out maybee just depressed playing infront of Grainger who wouldnt be .But he s certainly not the player he was and should not play again until hes got himself sorted .Now Osei s fit he will not get a look in or he shouldnt but Curle has hes favourites.The players rubbish at the moment get him loaned out .

So much wrong with that post it is hardly worth replying to.

Another veiled or not so veiled dig at Grainger, who can hardly be blamed for the form of Brough, who isn't doing any tracking back as the supposed wingback, so really he isn't playing in front of Grainger as such.

Calling him the managers favourite when everybody knows that is Grainger or so we are told on here often enough.

Finally calling for an out and out winger who will track back even less in Osei is even more bizarre.

I don't often agree with blue alf but I'm with him on this one! You can't blame Brough's form on Granny Dainger. I jus think his confidence looks shot to pieces. The fluff of the chance he had to shoot or pull the ball back after the Barnet keeper flapped a cross to his feet summed it up. Didn't have the confidence to either smash it at goal or puck out a cross. Ended up just bobbling o e of his knee.

Part of the problem is possibly that every time he gets the ball he has people screaming at him - cross it, beat your man, etc. He needs a break or some time on loan, not cos he's not a half decent player but just to give him a chance to build himself back up. Thompson could go the same way after some of the moronic shouts he was getting from the east stand yesterday. Gave an ironic clap towards a guy near me who was just being a complete tool - criticising everything he did, even when it was what he suggested the last time he touched the ball!!

He's being played out of position.. a lot of people seem to think left wing back should be easy if you can play full back. Matty Robson found it hard also..

They're not playing as wing backs, they are encouraged to stay forward all the time. It may be confusing him.

He put some nice crosses in against Port Vale when he came on as a substitute. He's not a bad player but he's never going to look good against a physical side like Barnet. I think he's fine coming on regularly as a substitute to build up his confidence.

Hery is one of our best players for tracking back and helping out the defence but people then complain he is sitting too deep. You can't please some people.

Brought doesn't seem to have improved as far as I can see a very lucky young man to have a career in professional football another Symington I fear

Broughs form has nothing to do with Grainger to be honest a lot of the things Grainger gets blamed for are broughs fault, Mcqeen showed how a Wing back should play fast Sprint up the pitch and fast Sprint back down , When brough actually goes for a run people can't catch him he is easily fast enough to get up and down the Wing he's just too lazy, also he does have a good cross on him not always as if you watch most players at all levels most crosses don't make it past the first man.


But finally the fact remains he's only 19 give him a chance to develop, it's one of the hardest positions to play in football and he needs time to learn it.

i would never have brough down as lazy. given the graveyard shift in this formation

Out of his depth today I'm afraid. No confidence on the ball and didn't seem to want it judging by his movement off the ball today. When he crossed it he wasn't trying to pick anyone out even when he had time!

They were saying on the radio there's been championship and premier league scouts looking at him, basically cos he's 'young, tall, fast and left footed'

Did he block one of our own shots on Newports line ?

Not good enough end of.

I find it astonishing if it is true a Premier League or even a Championship club are looking at him.

An England U19 Scout was at York to watch him. Left when saw he wasn't involved to watch others...

If he was there again today i wouldnt expect him to be in the next squad.

When he hasn't got the ball he didn't seem to know whether to show short or go down the line. In some instances he did neither. On other occasions he seemed to run alongside his man rather than trying to get beyond him. Drifting inside rather than staying wide, I just found his movement quite odd.

Not sure what to make of him as I was really excited about him last season, that said he was played much more defensively and he is probably more of a left back/wing back than a left winger.

Agree with the stupid calls from all areas. We all have a right to moan or cheer but some of the comments I heard today were hilarious. I would love to see how good a player the vocal supporters were or perhaps still are. We employ league 2 players who are not consistent if they were they would be playing a higher standard. Come on guys have you never made a mistake before? i.e. From the view you may have the ball may look closer to a player than it actually is so to give a young lad (Gillihead?) who actually played quite well, grief for not trying is a bit much, especially trying to slaugter him. Maybe we should get a few of the vocals kitted out and go on the bench in the event we need there skills!

Who's giving Gillead grief? I thought he had a decent game today. Brough on the other hand was poor. He was not alone mind.

Couple of guys in paddock questioning his commitment. I agree with you thought he done ok. Better with jabo though

Thought Gillead was really good first half but faded badly second half although he appeared to be playing much too deep 2nd half.
Brough is not the player he was last season and frankly I thought today he was total rubbish. Can't beat his man can't cross a ball and can't defend when needed. In fairness though the available options are not much better. Why did we sign Osei? Surely Amoo would have been better than him. (awaits the flak )

we have to be realistic at brunton park. Young players are the lifeblood of Utd, homegrown players coming through the ranks are the future and to be realistic is where we are going to have a chance to earn finances from. No matter how confident you are as a person, a few thousand people showing their anger every time you touch the ball will impact on a players performance, would you want to receive the ball if that was the case? This leads to mistakes and the spiral begins. Now some of the young players we have had recently have had something about them, some better than others but the likes of Symington, Beck, and especially Potts I believe were hampered in their development by constant criticism. To me Potts is a good player and the fact that professionals in the football industry have agreed by watching our youngsters over a period of time suggests the players have qualities then perhaps we should give the youngsters a break and get off their backs. Brough can go either way, rather he becomes a positive contributor to Utd than one of the many who drifts away.

Shone against QPR but out of his depth against bottom side Newport. How's that work then? Could the difference be the "encouraging calls" from the BP faithfull?

Didn't get anywhere near the byline all game, yesterday. I was really impressed with him in preseason and start of this season but has completely gone off the boil. Still think he's a decent squad player and potential to be (when on form) a first team regular.

Seems to be scared to progress up the field and has a lack of pace which in turn gives us an inability to attack men.

Gilliead and Gillesphey both had a bit of pace and successfully got around or through the defence. Look good additions.

Ah the old "it must be the Brunton Park fans fault" line. Yeah it must be. Theyd all be playing for England if it wasnt for us eh?

Didn't necessarily mean they would all be playing for England if the crowd got of their back just thought it was a relevant point that as a young player you find your way in the game and it makes it easier if the crowd are with you rather than jumping on your every mistake. Sorry if some of you don't see the point. All players are different perhaps Dempsey was one but don't think Patrick brought is of the same character.
The Newcastle lads do look useful additions but let's wait and see how they react when they make mistakes and the crowd get on them.
