Team:
There has to be recognition of what a God awful side Southend are. They're pretty much the perfect team to play when you're on the back of a stinking run, lumbering in defence and entirely toothless upfront.
They were playing long ball as well, but to a lower standard than the garbage we play.
Zanzala looks a different player when he remains on his feet and refrains from throwing himself on the ground at every opportunity to try and win free-kicks.
In absolute honesty, our performance was way below acceptable standard. We played one and a half pieces of proper football all game and got two goals for the privilege. It should be a lesson to us, as the second half against Bradford should've been a lesson to us. The path to genuine success is found by passing the ball, not lumping it.
Expect a return to the hoof on Tuesday, then. Beech will look and the mirror and see Jürgen Klopp again and his happy clappers will feel all warm now sticking with their man has proved the best course...
Again, typical happy clapper mentality.
The season is not just about one or two games, and winning those games against low quality opposition without playing especially well.
The quality of performance absolutely matters as it will determine whether you're successful in the long term.
If Beech is going to prove us wrong, it’s gotta be three points today. Free match pass number two (thank you, EFL Rewards) is the only reason I’m watching this one, hopefully I’ll see something that makes me spend money on further passes...
See you in a couple of months' time when you win your next free match pass.
"Again, their manager is a breath of fresh air - said after the game that they were 1-0 down at half time and they didn't play well but that was my fault he said as to how he set them up - you rarely hear a manager admit a mistake."
That's three steps up on Beech.
1, Recognizing poor performance.
2, Owning a mistake.
3, Being able to fix it during a match.
Honesty and competence, revolutionary stuff.
