Surely we should start on social media, player interviews and build some buzz for out first game. Good start with the prize reduction but lets build a buzz and momentum.

It's not just Carlisle that doesn't have hot water as planty other grounds don't either, that doesn't make it ok though.

Bumble you'd be shocked at how many don't wash their hands. It's probably 85%.

I popped down for my tickets today and disability stuff and melanie got nominated by the food hub for the local hero thing so received complimentary tickets - which was a nice surprise.

I’ve got £20 spare now - So if anyone wants a ticket for any reason for Saturday I can buy two. Let me know!

I know some seasoned fans, are happy with things as they are. Many live in Carlisle and are only out of the house for a couple of hours, so all they want is entrance to the ground, anything else can wait til they get home (although I'm struggling to believe folk don't want to wash their hands after having a pee, I won't be shaking hands any time soon). The thing is though, those that are content with things as they are often having been going for many years, they are already hooked. It's the non-regular fans we need to attract to grow the fanbase.

Imagine if you are going to the football as a family. Far more people do things as a family nowadays. Leaving the little women at home is as last century as Brunton Park. When both partners work they often want to spend the weekends together with the children. The children that hopefully will be the next generation of football fans. If you are taking children to the ground then you need reasonable facilities. Nothing out of the ordinary but decent, and that includes hot water to wash hands

If they aren't providing basic services to the Warwick then what she incentive to go in that area? Has always been the choice of the younger fans for the atmosphere/singing. If they could get decent refreshments it might encourage a few more to go.

The running of the club still feels like a committee running a golf club, there is surprise that people actually want to make changes aren't just happy with things being as they were in the 80's.

Yep. Relying on die hard fans is ace as long as there is a conveyor belt seeing them come through.
I was surprised that the Warwick and even the Waterworks weren’t open for the friendly games. I thought access all areas from the paddock would be good for social distancing. I messaged the club asking about this but I didn’t get a reply.

I don’t think there is much of an issue for the regular die hard. I’m more worried about the lack of appeal towards younger fans. The vast majority of the new generation stand in the Warwick - the club has this policy of treating anyone that stands in the Warwick as 2nd class. The doors are closed at every opportunity. 2 home friendlies and the kids who congregate behind the goal are missing from the ground, as well as countless others. It sends out a terrible message to them and numbers will dwindle again. Lots of improvements elsewhere to catering facilities, even real ale… Not in the Warwick, can’t even get a bottle of beer for those aged 18+
It probably needs someone from the management team to realise that we are missing the 12th man. The lack of vocal atmosphere is down year on year - traditionally this comes from the Warwick, but as I mentioned anyone that chooses that area has no real value to the club.


A key point I think.

More people = more demands for good service, facilities and experience.

I think this frightens our BOD to death.

As has been said many times, some of our leaders have a 1970's mentality.

We now only have one long-standing Director who has been around the Club forever, however the others are past there sell-by date and there influential years are long gone.

I’m with Bumble, 1st game of the seasons always dodgy and not a spectacle.

I’ll go though, only problem is I’ll wavy to try a pie, pizza and fish n chips I’m not bothered about the football.


The food is definitely high on my agenda. Fish and chips from the chippie van are not to be scoffed at. It would be rude not to sample the pizza, and let’s face it we’ve got to do some QC on these new pies, see if they’re all they’re cracked up to be!

Might even try one of these pots of pasta too…

A run of 3 decent results in the opening games will do more than any marketing campaign.

Yes, we really need to improve the footballing fare on offer.
Anyone occasional fan who is persuaded to come is likely to be very underwhelmed by the team at the moment and if the go to a game, they won't be rushing back to the next one.

agreed silent but we have a big stadium for people to spread out.


I remember around 1988ish you could pick your spot and have one of those metal barriers to yourself to lean on for good measure.

Would have been ideal in these times :D

Agreed, I think it needs to be intense the marketing and creative. We could have been building this better behind the scenes. How can supporters help out with this or the London Branch. What iniatives can the players come up. What can our sponsors come up with or our food catering groups. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience and we should fully use it.


This is why I thought the Kitchener type posters would be effective. It's quite loud, in-your-face marketing, it would get people talking, it's a bit unusual so it would stand out and be noticed. I really hope Andy and Amy give it a try. If it's successful I'll freelance as a media team consultant :D

What have they got to lose by trying? I think even if they aren't sure, they should try it in addition to whatever other marketing they have and then see what the feedback on the posters is. If it's negative then they can say I told you so :D
