It's just another paper for Newsquest to sell advertising in and online. Most 'stories' are asking people's views on things. Jon does a good job mind.

Such regular occurrences are hardly 'news'.
Mr Colman does a good job (as does Mr Coleman). Congratulations to him on his nomination for the award for regional sports journalist of the year on a weekly paper.
(If they had realised that the CN shares the same team as the N&S he might also have been up for the similar award on a weakly paper)
He must also be in the running for the award for the last remaining journalist in Carlisle. Let's hope Newsquest have no plans to replace him by another twelve-year-old in their social media crawling writing factory in Kendal.

If Colman goes then there’ll be no need to read anything of the paper, he’s easily the best thing about it.
They have lost good journalists in Lytolis and many others plus editors it’s a shadow of itself.
I was there for a year, promised all sorts when I got the job but none of it happened as it was going through transition. Don’t hold it against them though and jet done good people.

The website is centralised by newsquest now, all local ones all look the same.
There’s no sub editors so once the journalist puts in the article they choose when it goes live, hence the errors as it’s only the journalist that checks it.
When I was there my first 3 months was to design a new system. I did but I couldn’t implement it as it was stuck with their contract with a German supplier, no idea how newsquest managed to get out of it early.

Having had a family member working as a jounalist for Cumbrian newspapers just before Newsquest took over I was amazed at how poor the wages are there and the pressure reporters are under to produce stories each week. Lets face it this isn't London and the big stories each week are likely to be dog fouling in Distington or man caught urinating in shop doorway.... reporting on CUFC especially in the close season must be a nightmare, the current manager keeps his cards close to his chest and CUFC aren't exactly renowned for their openess and communication. Personally I think Jon Coleman does an excellent job and in the absence of hard news produces good thought provoking articles about the club and football in general. Keep up the good work Jon, the majority appreciate your efforts.

A few weeks ago there was a bit of talk/rumour that Jon Colman was lurking on here looking for a story to post, he's probably referring to that? Would be good if he signed up and posted on here, I like reading his stuff.
He’s one of the best journalists I’ve come across-he could be writing in the Telegraph or Times but his choice to stay in Cumbria

I think he’s suggesting that Jon Colman is head and shoulders above the rest of newsquest and would probably better served as Laffy says working at one of the nationals.
