If you are trawling this site for a story, get out quick, and get your arse into gear, and, tell your mates from that shower of shite news paper where to stick their false reporting. The newspaper you represent is a load of crap, unless of course you, as a professional journalist, wish to continue to spout rubbish on this website. Perhaps a little harsh, but who cares, no-one on here cares anymore, especially the cartel running this shenanigans.........

I think he’s suggesting that Jon Colman is head and shoulders above the rest of newsquest and would probably better served as Laffy says working at one of the nationals.

Demonseye, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
Once you are lucid enough, maybe you could explain yourself, with correct spellings and hopefully an apology.

John Colman is a very good journalist - what makes him so special is that he 'gets it' from a Carlisle United fans perspective.

Drunken Poster Bemuses Board

There was concern on the cufconline message board yesterday afternoon for the wellbeing of poster Demonseye, who launched into another incomprehensible tirade while appearing the worse for drink.

Mr Eye, 53, of Belle Vue or somewhere very like it, belched and slurred his way
through a baffling message about “John Coleman”, peppering his language with words such as “arse”, “shit” and “crap”.

He then appeared to pass out without making his usual unfavourable comparison between the message board and the CUFC Facebook group.

He’s one of the best journalists I’ve come across-he could be writing in the Telegraph or Times but his choice to stay in Cumbria

Does anyone know what demonseye is actually trying to say here?

Is he suggesting the News & Star is rubbish (agree it is terrible), this message board is crap (debatable) or that there is some dark secret that needs reported??

Your gratefully,
Confused of Carlisle.

A few weeks ago there was a bit of talk/rumour that Jon Colman was lurking on here looking for a story to post, he's probably referring to that? Would be good if he signed up and posted on here, I like reading his stuff.

Having had a family member working as a jounalist for Cumbrian newspapers just before Newsquest took over I was amazed at how poor the wages are there and the pressure reporters are under to produce stories each week. Lets face it this isn't London and the big stories each week are likely to be dog fouling in Distington or man caught urinating in shop doorway.... reporting on CUFC especially in the close season must be a nightmare, the current manager keeps his cards close to his chest and CUFC aren't exactly renowned for their openess and communication. Personally I think Jon Coleman does an excellent job and in the absence of hard news produces good thought provoking articles about the club and football in general. Keep up the good work Jon, the majority appreciate your efforts.

The website is centralised by newsquest now, all local ones all look the same.

There’s no sub editors so once the journalist puts in the article they choose when it goes live, hence the errors as it’s only the journalist that checks it.

When I was there my first 3 months was to design a new system. I did but I couldn’t implement it as it was stuck with their contract with a German supplier, no idea how newsquest managed to get out of it early.

He's a good journalist who needs to get a job at a proper paper or even just a proper website

The N&S website is a sad shadow of its former self since newsquest took over. Every article has spelling and grammatical mistakes. Half the place names are wrong; most of the geography is incorrect. Half the articles are just someone looking at Zoopla. And then they expect you to subscribe to it to read more than two paragraphs per article!

If Colman goes then there’ll be no need to read anything of the paper, he’s easily the best thing about it.

They have lost good journalists in Lytolis and many others plus editors it’s a shadow of itself.

I was there for a year, promised all sorts when I got the job but none of it happened as it was going through transition. Don’t hold it against them though and jet done good people.

Sometimes I wonder about Cumbrians.
Let’s moan about anything good in the area.

We have a diamond in Jon but let’s rubbish him because you would rather trash than treasure what you have.

I honestly don't know what the ENAS are going to fill their pages with once they stop reporting on the McKnight murder.

It is fast becoming the Tambury Gazette. Won't be long till the headline is about someone frae Silloth getting bummed by the ghost of Liberace, or a kid from Shap who can fart the National Anthem!!

Such regular occurrences are hardly 'news'.

Mr Colman does a good job (as does Mr Coleman). Congratulations to him on his nomination for the award for regional sports journalist of the year on a weekly paper.

(If they had realised that the CN shares the same team as the N&S he might also have been up for the similar award on a weakly paper)

He must also be in the running for the award for the last remaining journalist in Carlisle. Let's hope Newsquest have no plans to replace him by another twelve-year-old in their social media crawling writing factory in Kendal.

Aye, cracking effort. Criticising a journalist whilst spelling both his forename and surname incorrectly. Good effort on the punctuation too.

It's just another paper for Newsquest to sell advertising in and online. Most 'stories' are asking people's views on things. Jon does a good job mind.

Colman is a top notify sports journalist we’re lucky to have him doing what he does.

That said, the paper in general is a bit shit. The stuff about the club is the only reason I bother reading it.

Coleman does a good job and says it as it is.

Don't take any notice of him Mr Colman, I think you are a good reporter. If you want a story you could do a piece on capitalism v socialism :D
