So irritating that we could have kept Devitt if we’d given him an extra year.

I saw somewhere that all League 2 clubs apart from Macclesfield and Carlisle have handed out 2 year contracts this summer, which dispels the myth that Holdsworth wants us to believe of 2 year deals being a thing of the past at this level.

Do we really stand a chance of attracting decent players when nearly all other clubs in our league (including f-ing Morecambe) are probably seen as a more attractive club than us.

Some of the players we've signed could well turn out to be very good, but getting in inexperienced young players on one-year deals really isn't going to get anyone's heart pounding or create any kind of pre-season excitement.

Dover have given three players two year contracts in a week. :-D

We're gan to be a right rag, tag and bobtail outfit this coming season by the look of it.

Young lads trying to salvage their careers and players nobody else wants.

That's ok as Mr. Holdsworth will still be sat in the directors box massaging his own large ego that he built an entire team on one-year deals however good or bad they turn out to be.

Am I being thick here or missing something arnt these deals one year with an option in clubs favour to extend deal in essence being two year deals if player is any good ?

Did Holdsworth actually say "at this level"? I thought he just said at this club? Not that it's much better.

So these 4 players that a Holdsworth says we’re in talks with, the two centre backs, winger and striker, I wonder if we’ll get any of them over the line by the weekend.

It would be nice if we could have some sort of squad ready for the start of preseason.

Not 100%, but have heard 2 in tomorrow. Centre half & a right back. One from the heed. As said not 100% reliable.

The Gateshead defender could well be Robbie Tinkler, makes even more sense as he can play in a number of positions.

Hartlepool were trying to sign him recently but said they had competition from other National League and Football League clubs.

Also being followed by McCreery Sports Management (of Yahya Kirdi fame) on Twitter.

Robbie Tinkler would be an excellent signing, covers a number of positions and certainly fits the mould of a young, quick player with potential.

Hopefully we get at least another 2/3 in before pre-season starts and a few more at the end of next week.

We've obviously agreed a season long loan agreed with either Aston Villa or Sheffield United going off DH's comments, any ideas? Hepburn - Murphy would be my guess.

I'm no keen on utility players. In our case it usually means they can play shit in a variety of positions.

I get what you mean, however he played most of the season at full back. Got 10 MOM performances by all accounts..

His profile fits in with a lot of what DH has said. He’s a Yorkshire lad, and has been at Millwall and Scunny recently (Champ/L1 experience). At 32yo though he doesn’t fit the template of other signings, though it’s clear we need some experience at the back!

Did his ACL in Autumn 17, so missed most of 17/18, then didn’t get back into Millwall team, hence move to Scunny, where he was a back-up player...

Bids are in for Hope and Holdsworth publicly inviting more bids.

If/When he’s sold, along with McCarron it is going to leave us with nothing in the final third of the pitch.

A little over 2 weeks till our first friendly. Time for Holdsworth to stop talking and put his words into action.

So much for getting the squad together early, we are apparently still getting rid of players and only have five in with a couple of weeks until friendly kick off, at the rate of one incoming player per week the club will need to ask for volunteers to field a team.

It's very worrying that Pressleys is very quiet. All we are hearing is that gobshite Holdsworth who seems to be running the show from top to bottom.

That's right from the club side of things.

But from the player's side they want the guarantee of a second year. If Jamie Devitt was still here and did a Nicky Adams this season (getting injured and missing a fair chunk of the season) he wouldn't have another year on his contract here. It worked well for Adams in that he got his move back to Bury and got promotion again but not every player gets that luxury. Hasn't ended well for Adams there like, but the point remains.

Tell you who would also fit the mould and be a cracking signing... Jake Wright from Sheff Utd. Played for Oxford and Sheff Utd in L1 then been at Sheff Utd since then in the Championship.

From the team that beat Mansfield at the turn of the New Year 3-2 and looked to be heading to an automatic promotion spot it looks like out of the starting 11 only Collin and Etuhu will start season 2019 for us (with Etuhu injured only Collin) assuming Hope is off. From the subs that day only Gray and Jones.

So a totally fresh start so let's hope it's for the best and not a relegation fight...

Well at the moment that's what it's got (relegation fight) written all over it and it has Holdsworth's prints all over it. He'll blame someone else though then skulk off into the night never to be seen or heard from again (with a bit of luck!)

We signed a whopping two players in actual fact, Scougal signed today.

No real experience or proven quality is the issue, you can normally attain these sort of players even on a one year deal a 32 year old would probably take it but they cost more in wages so Holdsworth cannot have it both ways.

I just can't see where the goals will come from with Grainger, Devitt and probably Hope going.

With the team being so young who are the leaders going to be?

This team so far has relegation written all over them. We'll have a good idea after the Crawley match. I can see it being the lowest opening game gate for years - will be less than 5,000.

Doing your business early is always best, we had Adams sorted the January before he moved here in July, but then we were offering big contracts. As we know this is no longer the case so in truth we will be getting young lads or will be peoples 3rd and 4th choice, that does not mean we will not get them, we just hope the players 1st, 2nd choice is not available as that team would have secured their first choice.

It will all start to move soon, next week most teams are back, then around 3 weeks time the loans will become available. We have to to be patient, we are not the club of 2/3 years ago where we offering the 2 yr contracts and getting proven players through the door.

The league will be like last year I think, not great, NC has mentioned being up there again and same budget, so I expect us to battling for play offs. Being fit and organised in this league can get you far, but we do need a centre forward!

Top and bottom of it is that EWM are simply ruining our club.

Instead of talking about aspirations to get into the higher leagues we hardly have any players and are dishing out one year deals akin to Macclesfield.

If this is such a brilliant business plan then why are only us and Macclesfield doing it?

The club want to spend naff all on the product but the ticket price will stay the same.

Poor.

Still early days, but I felt we exceeded expectations last year partly because of Sheridan's connections with the likes of Gerrard and because we got lucky that the hitherto unproven Yates, Nadesan & Sowerby loans all worked out and combined well together.

So far it looks like we're shaking the dice again this season on another bunch of unproven players. Have to hope we're lucky again in that regard.

And again then the following season when any of these players who have done well leave for nothing at the end of their one year contracts for more money and longer contracts elsewhere and we're back to square one.

I was one of those Tashy I'll admit it. I was quite happily wrong when we got ourselves in a great position but come January and the team became disjointed with the departures it became all too familiar as we dropped down the table.

I’m presuming the central defender we were close to signing the other day has turned us down.

It’ll have to be a hectic start to the week or the start of preseason training is going to be laughable with our 3 defenders and no strikers.
