so why havent. we been looking at some .not far to travel .or dh cant be f bothered .was some good players there last season .

Most have already gone elsewhere.....not sure why any have stayed tbh
How much is the payment due from the EFL....where will that go
Surely they have to go into administration if debts bigger than assets

It appears the takeover for £1 has not been done properly according to EFL rules...surprise surprise. Not sure if the current owner knew the former owner but hes been seen off.

I see CUOSC is throwing its two pennyworth in on the Bury situation in the latest CUOSC briefing. In what can only be described as an opinion piece worthy of Richard Littlejohn there is the irony of ironies when the writer says "but the potential farce of a team of youth players and cobbled together free agents trying to play at League 1 level is entirely avoidable." Yes the give away is League 1 and CUOSC is talking about Bury not ourselves. Who authorises the rubbish often read now in these CUOSC briefings?

If Bury did fold then the best solution in my eyes is three down from League one and three up from the Conference instead of two to make up the numbers.

All change is coming anyhow in a couple of years when they're trying to get each division down to 20 teams or split the FL three divisions into four and the introduction of the dreaded U-21 teams.

I'm sure I read that it was in the plans Months back. Maybe shelved now that Harvey has gone.

It's unfair to clubs that try to stay solvent and within the rules. Clubs overspend, go bust effectively and at worst, only get a slap on the wrist with a points deduction. Knowing that if it goes tits up, they would be thrown out of the EFL would clarify their thinking.

The Financial Fair Play appears to be a joke as well, but that's another subject.

With comments like that Elvis has dropped even lower in my estimation. Instead of gobbing off about other teams he should be sorting out his own clubs problems by getting us a viable starting eleven. If I was a Bury or Bolton fan I'd be bombing up the M6 on Saturday and giving him grief from the Paddock

What about John Coleman's (Accrington manager) comments at the time of the floods. No-one outside Carlisle seemed to react

I agree with Pressley too, the league is incredibly lax when it comes to enforcing penalties for financial misconduct.

What Bolton got away with last season was incredible, the whole Christian Doidge transfer scenario alone. He played for them, scoring crucial goals against relegation rivals and they never paid a penny for him and hadn't been able to afford him in the first place.

Bolton and Bury cheated. They have to be punished somehow. I do, however, feel sorry for the fans.

He played for Hearts and managed Coventry when both were spending beyond their means.

And we've hardly been a shining light in not overspending in the last few years.

So, while I can see his point entirely and agree with it, he might have been better letting someone else say it.

Its the fans that suffer, can you imagine if you woke up tomorrow and headlines where "Phil Day pumps £200 million into Carlisle" I would probably go on a 48 hour bender LOL but 99.9% of fans would never think if it was sustainable in the long run! all clubs should be protected and scrutinized to see if investment is sustainable the Championship is a disaster waiting to happen average wage bill is £34 million so how do these clubs meet that financial fair play as virtually all are teetering on financial ruin there will defo be a few more Bolton's in the next few years!

Brighton are about to pay Bristol City £25million for a defender.
I feel a bit uneasy about kicking clubs when they are down when such ridiculous amounts are changing hands slightly up the food chain.
Transfer fees like that are a world away from what is going on with the likes of Bury.
There's going to be winners and losers in the arms race and it seems to slightly miss the point to focus on those that have failed as being irresponsible.
Unfortunately the game is becoming less and less about the punters coming through the turnstiles funding their club with their support.
It's a sad situation.

It just shows what things are coming to when a second division player can go for that much. It just shows how out of touch with the real world football has become.

We put a winding up petition in against them, much to their horror and anger.They went public with it too as if they would get any sympathy.We got paid of course but the grief was appalling-as if we had been the guilty party for having the audacity to ask for our money and apply normal tactics to get it.

I hate that. Bloke owed me money for six months and I brought the matter up in the pub. He didn't like it and said I was out of order! All of a sudden I'm the bad guy. He said that was no way to conduct business!

He paid the next day so I was happy. Arsehole.

I'm a great believer in karma though and I heard recently somebody went bust owing him a considerable amount!

Had the same with a notorious plumber from Denton Holme!! wanting to be the next KING of redevelopment! owed me money for over a 100 days, took a court order to get paid and he went bust a few weeks later! but I enjoyed picking the money up off his wife as she was like a pitbull (Ugly too) and I got called all the names under the sun but got my wonga!

Talking of breaking the rules Derby have signed Rooney on 80k a week. His contract says he is a coach who will be registered as a player. Coaching staff wages don't count for financial fair play rules

Seems quite a few championship clubs are getting around FFP with some creative accounting and underhand methods.

Wolves and Villa both gambled heavily to gain promotion, if it hadn’t have paid off they’d have been well over EFL FFP limits and facing sanctions. Villa sold Villa Park to their owners to enable them to post a profit in preparation for the gamble not paying off, the EFL seemed happy enough with the arrangement but the PL are looking into it. Sheff Wed did similar with Hillsborough recently.

Derby used the same tactic, owner Mel Morris buying Pride Park for £80m (even though it was only valued at £41m) and leasing it back to the club. This enabled them to post a profit of £14m instead of a massive loss which would have sent them well over the allowed 3 year loss limit of £39m which FFP allows. It buys them a couple of years but if they don’t gain promotion in that time you’ve got to worry about the future of the club.

It’s just an underhand way of injecting cash into clubs to make the balance sheet pass the FFP criteria. The day to day running costs of the clubs are still sky high. The FL are happy enough though!

Interesting article here. Appears the 50/50 split in wages counting towards FFP for player-coaches doesn’t apply in the Championship. Also Derby’s sponsor, betting firm 32RED are heavily involved in the recruitment of Rooney.

Fair play to Morris, making the EFL look like the amateurs they are. It is his money covering the losses after all. Sheff Wed have done the same with the stadium.
If the farce of parachute payments was dropped, the need for these ruses in the championship would dissapear fairly quickly.

I hear Carlisle are being chased for a not unsubstantial sum by a local business and it's not the only. Not great when you are trying to promote the club as being 'well run' by Pressley.
