Football is littered with teams abusing finances. Bury have been promoted with a team they couldn't afford with players they should not have been able to get unless they had their house in order. I'm not picking on bury as the league is full of such examples more so in the championship where the clamber to reach the PL brings the worst out of every greedy so and so out there. The governing bodies have much to answer for. So if league 1 starts with one team less, are the others compensated for losses? They budget for so many games surely.
Then relegation would be one team less thus affecting the competition as a whole etc. Etc..
The fans are the victims as usual. What a state the game is in due to greed.
The farce in Baku last night just goes to show that there is no one with any sense at the top table nevermind the EFL lot.

Pete - Bury have been promoted with a team they couldn't afford applies to most teams in the league who lose money, including Carlisle, especially in Curly Keith's day.
Way I read it is not that the current budget is so excessive (could be wrong) but more that the old and new owners have been funnelling money out to themselves?

Normally what happens is that if a club goes bust after the AGM the division runs with one team less.
Before the AGM other teams can take their place, but this needs to be ratified at the AGM, otherwise it is again a team less.

Terrifying.

A rule should be brought in if the players don’t get pay there should be points deducted that season So Bury would have lost say 10 points in March then 10 in April then 10 in May

We should thank our lucky stars we have Jenkins. He’s kept the club going. What I hate is a few seasons back we got absolutely stuffed off Coventry and Leyton Orient and I think the following season they both nearly went out business. Paying big wages on players that probably shouldn’t even be in league 2

So seesaw...no it hasn't folded but because players haven't been paid since March they can leave on a free transfer...that's big of them!! ! Provided they give the club 2 weeks notice.... even more !!!!!!!! Unbelievable.
Doubtful the new manager will have time to recruit other players in time for 3rd Aug...

So are they planning on paying any new players is the question.
