Apart from the die hards there is not much reason going to these - especially against Middlesborough reserves etc.

How about they announce that all gate money profits go towards the January transfer window fund?

Personally I think it is more worth while playing League 1 & 2 sides - why don't league 2 sides play each other? We'll learn a hell or a lot more of where the team stood.

Personally I'd prefer to play Queen of the South at Brunton Park - just to settle that stupid debate of what is the better league. QoS could bring 200 - 300 although they only managed 2,000 in the playoffs with some bored Cumbrians attending!

The Wokington fixture will hold a bit more interest this year.

CU see the friendlies v County teams as help with funds for them , not CU.

To have been born Cumbrian
is to have won the lottery of life !

Penrith, Kendal, Annan & Workington away to help the local sides.

Queen of the South, Blackpool and Sunderland at home would bring decent away numbers and be more interesting than Burnley or Middlesbrough reserves.

Sod Kendal, sod Reds too, they had the right hump over Skelton...

I’d only entertain Penrith and Annan as the local ‘leg stretchers’...

Reds had the hump over Skelton? Don't know how true that is, cos it was handled amicably by both Reds and Carlisle.
In my opinion, Skelton embarrassed himself, cowardly to pack in after 1 week.
Respect to Danny Grainger, starting at the bottom leagues and prepared to work hard and better himself.
Anyhow, looking forward to pre season friendly at Borough Park, always a good workout for Carlisle.

I know there would trouble but surely getting newcastle or celtic down from Halpin and Presselys connections wouldn't be the worst idea in the world and would definitely attract plenty.

4th English division is better than Scottish championship. Dundee are possibly going into administration and they are trying to ring fence 6 players they think will be good championship players. One is John o'sullivan

Cowardly? Nah, used his noggin when he realised what a shambles the set-up was seemingly.

Those Barrow based squad members still dictating? No surprise they got relegated with bad apples aplenty...

If there's bad apples aplenty, and players dictating, a coward walks away after a week.
A good manager sorts it out, like Paul Simpson did when he inherited Roddy Collins' shambolic squad.

..............not without any strikers, Pressley would play the 'False 9' in the hope of keeping possession without actually threatening their goal and be pleased with himself for it.

I'd rather us enter the Scotch Challenge Cup than be in the farce what is now the FLT Trophy. Can we get special dispensation now that the only English club who were in it (Berwick) won't be?

It would be smart playing infront 345 at the likes of Forfar!

Celtic would be a capacity crowd if we gave them there East Stand and Waterworks - 18,000 plus with no segregation in the East Stand.

Last time we played Newcastle they demanded half the gate money.

Chester away on a Tuesday is an unusual one.

Mid table National League North and not exactly local - Gateshead would have been better.

Fleetwood won't bring any fans either

We have a home match on Tuesday 9th July before Penrith on Saturday.

Wonder who that will be as we normally start with the poor teams and work towards a 'glamour' tie at BP.

Why not play a pre season friendly against the Isle of Man who have a surprisingly good National team. This could also provide an opportunity to spot some talent which is not often seen in England. The island have four divisions of teams and are well organised in all departments.
