heilkmoon wrote: While this isn’t a particularly thrilling piece of business, no-one has explained how the club can compel a player in Cosgrove’s situation to stay.
He was signed as a cheap option to make up the numbers and a couple of months back was probably considering that his professional career might be fizzling out at the end of the season. Suddenly of the back of a couple of good performances and one goal (followed by performances which saw him dropped) he’s been handed an opportunity in the SPL. Even if we offered a 3 year deal on massive wages (which I wouldn’t be inclined to do on the basis of the limited evidence so far) there’s no obligation on his part to sign it and the Aberdeen opportunity is too big a break to turn down from his point of view.

Someone wants to buy him off us after a few games for hard cash.
If it wasn't Keith Curle selling Cosgrove then everyone would have said well done but because of the agenda that some have against Keith then it is a bad bit of business!
No offence Munchy, but that is absolute rubbish.
I know Cosgrove still has a lot to prove, but he is a player who has turned into the only bright light we currently have for the future.
We should be doing all we can to keep him, give him a regular run of games and build our team around him.
If it doesn't work out, then we may have lost out on 25k. Big deal.
The fact that Aberdeen appear to have spotted a good prospect after 3-4 games says it all. It took Curle 6 months, and he still only played him because he had run out of patience with our other 'strikers'
And I use the term 'strikers' very loosely.
The fact that the club appear to be ready to accept buttons for him is fuc*ing criminal.

Cosgrove was nothing special but both him and Miller, doesn’t say much really, were/are better than Stockton will ever be so unless we find another striker soon it’s anothet very poor January.

Cash in now so no excuse to not sign anyone - surprise money that we did not expect so a player that we couldn't afford before suddenly becomes affordable, but if it doesn't happen then Jenkins is taking the piss in holding the money back.

A player who has hardly played many games leaving causes you stress?
How on earth do you deal with real life?

The rumoured figure is around 40k so that covers Mitchell's and someone in the ticket office.seesaw50 wrote:

Let's hope the club has time to tie a deal up for someone who maybe they thought they didn't have the funds for.

I’ve seen Cosgrove live once and has more about him in that game than Stockton, it just looks a bottom of the barrel signing.
I’ve seen miller last season and there’s a thing called the internet.

Have you read the Article on the O/S?
Explaining the deal, chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “We were contacted by Aberdeen on Monday and they informed us that they’d reached a pre-contract agreement [during talks this week] to sign Sam in the summer [of 2018 - at the end of the current campaign].
This week, after the initial contact.

We in particular just have a track record of selling our best players for buttons. The only time we got proper money for a player was Joe Garner and half of that then went to Blackburn Rovers.
