It would be a real shame to lose Cosgrove. We're not scoring that many at present and from what I've seen of him he's looked the most likely of the forwards to score. A goal, 2 disallowed and hitting the woodwork is not bad for a young lad just getting into the side. Hope he stays.

Been said on here in the past how shit the spl is and Motherwell usually seem to get a mention for general crappiness. This window they’ve sold a player for a bit of money to Preston and it’s now reported on sky they’ve turned down a £375k bid for another. I wonder who our players worth this sort of money are.

Hartlepool have a 40% sell on for Trevor Carson which might have summat to do with Motherwell rejecting it.

There's talk of a nominal fee of £25,000 for Cosgrove. If so this is a pathetic piece of business which will embarrass the club in years to come. When you see the price tag put on players like Charlie Wyke and Danny Graham in the past surely it is better to try and develop Sam Cosgrove into a potential Championship striker. He's only 21 and has shown ability in the limited pitch time Curle has given him.

This is madness if its true.... £25k is a complete joke if they think he's worth bringing in at least get some money for him. He's unproven still ...do clubs see 6'4 and think oh must be a nailed on goal scorer.

Although it is low, If we ask for too much then we don't get anything in the summer, At least this way we get 25k and him off the wage bill earlier as it looks like at the first chance to jump he's gone.

Thing is, if he wants to go (and why wouldn't he, given the step up on paper) there's not much we can do about it.

It amazes me how our wonderful management team haven't spotted any kind of talent in Sam until now, Aberdeen have spotted this after only 3 games and seemingly are prepared to offer him a deal. No wonder a mate of mine calls Curle and absolute bloody Fruit Cake!!

We would if he went to another English club but by going to a Scottish club we don't.

We are as poor as a church mouse-everything is for sale it seems other than the shares.

Jury still out for me with Cosgrove as he’s very young and green but if we lose a good prospect for £25k,there should be a stewards enquiry into the competence of whoever is in charge. But what do we know?We are not worthy.

No, it's because this is a young player who our esteemed manager didn't play until he absolutely had to, who has played well in several games and is now close to moving on because a better team has recognised his ability. I've no idea whether or not it would be Curle's choice to allow him to leave but it's annoying nonetheless. There's no agenda here.

It was Keith's decision to barely play him until the window opened whereupon Cosgrove actually looked quite decent. If it was Nabi or Bennett then £25k would be fine. But this kid has a decent pedigree and the potential upside merits at least trying to develop him beyond a few starts.

Curle has rarely bothered with trying to develop young players. Dempsey and Wyke improved but even the latter didn't start every game until the last couple of months before his move to Bradford.

I know Cosgrove still has a lot to prove, but he is a player who has turned into the only bright light we currently have for the future.
We should be doing all we can to keep him, give him a regular run of games and build our team around him.
If it doesn't work out, then we may have lost out on 25k. Big deal.

Just a hunch, but I think if we do hold onto him AND he plays or features in majority of games, that many (if honest), say we should have taken the £25,000.

If he goes now, he goes as a better player than maybe he is, in the eyes of the supporters due to recent form, but hopefully he is here to show us over a greater period of time what he is really about.

£25,000 is peanuts - hopefully we will get a decent sell on clause.

If his agent has pulled this its a master stroke. If he stays he probably won't play as Stockton is before him in the queue now I would imagine, then he can leave for a free in the summer and go where he wants. Alternatively we could offer a contract until summer 2019 but as a player wanted by a Scottish Premier team he'll be eyeing up a juicy salary hike. I would let him go but with lots of add ons. He'll get a better grounding at Aberdeen than with us so lets transfer the development risk to them. Anyway he could come back on loan

No offence taken but I disagree highly, another Warring people thought and it was utter madness giving him a six month contract.

Maybe Keith wants to keep him and the board have seen cash signs.

Perhaps the other strikers looked better in training and Cosgrove proved his worth, seems to me another stick to beat Keith with.

He was signed as a cheap option to make up the numbers and a couple of months back was probably considering that his professional career might be fizzling out at the end of the season. Suddenly of the back of a couple of good performances and one goal (followed by performances which saw him dropped) he’s been handed an opportunity in the SPL. Even if we offered a 3 year deal on massive wages (which I wouldn’t be inclined to do on the basis of the limited evidence so far) there’s no obligation on his part to sign it and the Aberdeen opportunity is too big a break to turn down from his point of view.

So he’d already signed a pre contract agreement so was going in the summer regardless.

Probably for the best for all concerned that he’s gone now and we’ve got some kind of fee for him.

The bigger issue for me is Curle thinking Bennett was worth paying a very rare transfer fee for ,continuing to play him dispute looking at best ordinary he eventually after signing Cosgrove pre season gives him a couple of games and looks far better than Bennett and now we are losing him ....very poor from Curle this in my opinion
