I've been impressed with him. Took his goal very well vs Penrith and seemed always to be actively looking for space, which is more than some we've seen. Saw him hold it up effectively as well as knock it round a man and run. See how he does - decent back up option if nothing else.

He got on the last 25 minutes at Halifax had a decent shot on target from edge of area that forced a save from their goalkeeper... looked useful with the ball at feet, as someone said always looking for space, and laid it off decently for players pushing up a la young Lee Miller. Clearly not the finished product but looks promising. Hopefully he'll harden up given the chance and turn out to be a good signing

That's two big buggas up front he must be 6"4 looking at photo

Be pumping a few balls in box by look of things with Bennett and this lad...good options up front just hope at least one of them kicks on like Wyke did ..was hoping Miller got a good run this year I'm guessing this pushes him down picking order

Be just and fear not

Glad to see him get a contract. Hope he shows enough in those 6 months to earn a longer deal. Type of player who can only get better given the opportunity, best of luck to him. Could turn out to be a good signing, which I think Nabi will also prove to be.

Curle didn’t want the four academy “projects” - they were pretty much forced on him by he board.

Whichever one can score the odd worldy to keep the happy clappers and the bed wetters in balance, saving us from having to dip in to the football fortune, because there's a player in there somewhere.

Strange one this!!!
Hope the lad does well.
Can't help feeling its Curle fannying about again though, if hes suddenly good enough to be involved in the first team, why haven't we seen much more of him until now?
Anybody got a spare fag packet so I can give it to the Curly one for his team selections?

When Junior Joachim was a huge flop, somebody suddenly decided that cash was also used to fund Nabi, to make it seem like it wasn’t wasted.

“If I can’t get Mark Beck into the top half of the Championship then I’m not doing my job,” said Curle. “There is so much more to come from him as he has all the attributes to be a top Championship player. Everybody wants an effective focal point in their team and Mark is starting to grasp his positional play. I believe I can get him into a Championship team at the minimum."

Cosgrove has 30 appearances for Wigan, Barrow, Chorley, North Ferriby and Carlisle United with no goals scored. I think I would rather have Beck back!

Surely we'd be better getting a young Championship or League One striker on loan.

Of last Summer’s Trialists, they seemed to decide between Cosgrove and Shankland.

We gave Cosgrove a deal whilst Shankland signed for Ayr in Sept. Shankland has since scored 17 in 17 games...

Whilst I’d expect Carlisle to beat Ayr, that’s still some strikerate!

For a new player Cosgrove has looked OK to me pre season v Blackburn and away at Mansfield.
Apparently he wasn't very good in a Checkatrade game v Fleetwood but he should probably get more games before deciding either way. Especially when there's no Reserve team and considering the game time Bennett has had who plays a similar role.

1st proper look at him today and he looks to have more potential than Bennett. Does the basics better, better in the air and much more mobile (although that isn’t saying much!). He’s probably a bit raw and inexperienced to pin our playoff hopes on, but there is something there.

We do need another striker, but it should be Richie Bennett heading out before Cosgrove.

Have to say I’m impressed. By no means the finished article but there is definite potential there considering his lack of experience and age. He’s quite composed in front of goal as well, his goal and his disallowed one today both good finishes, as was his disallowed goal last week.

As a target man, he’s far better in the air than Bennett, puts better direction in his flick ons, better touch, seems to do things quicker and sharper, more mobile and holds the ball up better.

I’d like to see us sign a fairly quick nippy goal scorer to play alongside him, or if not maybe try Miller alongside him for a few games.

What you on about, the lad did nothing wrong. He's far better with his feet than Cosgrove is albeit worse in the air and he was incredibly unlucky not to score when the ball just happened to hit the keeper who knew nothing about it from point blank range.
