Far better than the football
Red tarn from low spying how bottled striding edge due to the wind
Stayed in Dubs hut last night.. Walked up from honister mine. Was a great sunset and got there as darkness fell.

More like it (I think). Pinnacle Ridge St Sunday Crag, one or two brown trouser moments, but otherwise a good day out.
When you`re on the Ridge itself it`s not as bad as it looks on the photo, as you say Alan the worst bit is getting to the foot of the ridge - traversing quite steep hillside across scree.
The Mrs & me have been talking about doing a few walks to lose a few pounds & to get out & about now the kids are up! Not sure where to start (gentle), or what gear (boots) etc! Any advice would be great. Thanks. P.s love this thread.
I was going to suggest Castle Crag, what a view for little effort although the slate can be quite slippy when wet. You can also carry on up the main path from Grange and then turn right onto High Spy and along the ridge of Maiden Moor and down Catbells towards Keswick.
One of the first walks MRF&I done was Catbells when there was around 200 Germans up there, I thought we'd been invaded.

"slippy when wet" When you wrote this the first words that went through your mind were 'Johnny used to work on the docks' go on admit it
Away from lakes for a break on the east coast for a few days last week some nice but flat walks (Great for hikes from pub to pub without the risk of breaking your neck )Sizewell looking stunning in this one :P
Climbed the North Face of the Eiger in under 3 hours - chuffin` `ell - takes me 3 hours to get up Helvellyn with a following wind - usually the digestion process of the previous evenings curry.
