I don't think Millen has ruled out a target man, I just think what he's seen that is available is either too expensive for our wage structure or not good enough. The fact that Exeter were interested in Zanzala along with other clubs including Bradford shows that it is a very competitive market for strikers. Millen strikes me as being canny. Unlike the Curle approach of paying top wages and trying to outbid other clubs, he is looking for situations where we can get better quality players who haven't necessarily been known to be available.

I think we can do well even without a target man. Patrick has the pace to run into space and collect long balls. Rod McDonald has shown he is a threat at set pieces. As Millen says we have done enough but more quality players would be a bonus.

McDonalds 1 goal in 169 games(5 years) doesn’t constitute that he’s a threat from set pieces.

I've watched some of our set pieces during the season and it was a real weakness up untill recently . It was not the fact that they deliveries were poor they were often dropping around the 6 yard boss , last season an area were Hayden and Bennett would be knocking them in. I don't think McDonald quite has the Arial ability of either of them , or even the reaction and speed.

If you go by what KM said about wanting players who will make a difference then you would think that a half decent target man that will get on the end of things fits that description.
Patrick has never been a consistent goal scorer and the other lad is still very young and an unknown factor so it makes a lot of sense to get someone else in.
There is still hope I suppose that Clough will benefit from having 2 pacy forwards in front of him which might allow him space and give him the chance to play to his strengths.

A central defender has to be priority. With Whelan now playing midfield and imo too physically weak to be a CB in this league, we’re struggling if Feeney or Mcdonald get an injury. And it’s not as if those 2 don’t have previous for picking up injuries.

I was surprised he didn't keep Dinzeyi. How do you persuade a player to come here to be 4th choice centre back? Dinzeyi played alight when he got his chance as well, tall, quick.

I don’t think KM will be signing a centre back to be 4th choice, he’ll want one who’ll come in and challenge to be first choice.

Not sure what happened to this guy. He was on trial at Colchester in the summer, they wanted to sign him. He quit them as a couple of Premier teams were in the hunt, now seems to have drifted back into non league

Just watching the Stoke game and I see one of his 'gonna sign for us' and never did is playing for them, goes by the name of Ince.

Montel Gibson was at this level with Grimsby last season. Did nothing and got his contract terminated last month. So clearly not good enough for a team that got relegated out of the football league.

Surely there's no truth in this 'rumour'.

Maybe the time he's taken at Stourbridge could have helped him develop, maybe did not suit the management at Grimsby can be several reasons as to why he didn't succeed .

Although based on what Millen has said I don't think it's the area we are looking at .
