TOPIC: Hartlepool Game Hold Up

it is going to happen just waiting on police, allocated pubs and travel and thy have to evacuate newcastle incase the locals see human beings and get confused

Newcastle, Blackburn, Blackpool, Morecambe, Bury, Rochdale & Wigan are away one the day and Sunderland are playing 2 days later so plenty of options and no reason for the match to be postponed.

Having been to a Newcastle v Sunderland game, there's Police from several forces on duty, such is the scale of the operation! There was an officer every 10/20yds each side of the road from the Ground to the Station on a pre-determined route for Away Fans. Must've been a few hundred on duty...

And please CCU don't try and compare the Newcastle v Sunderland Derby the same as the Hartlepool v Carlisle rivalry. That is just wrong on so many levels. Police from different forces would be needed for a 50000 crowd for a fierce Derby, not 10000 crowd from a Carlisle v Hartlepool game haha

quite agree, if they being difficult lets drag em over here give the lads a bit of a break.. save the fans a bit of money on travelling etc wont cost the club much. regarding the police they always have other forces covering the games even at hartlepool

It would have been the biggest crowd of the season so far 8-10k rather than 3.5k on a tuesday night in february.

I think 8 - 10 a bit optimistic 6 - 8 max I know where u coming from but its back to the old expense for the fans. Saying that its quite a while since ive been to st james (apart from Exeter) so quite looking forward to it

Would we make any money anyway by the time policing costs have been added. Im guessing the hold up isnt that they cant get police its how much they want paid.

Play it at Hartlepool
Only give them 800 tickets, for the away end. 25 quid a pop
Just have bottled water and crisps for sale in that end
CUFC has the rest of the ground, 16/18 quid a ticket
Get Fat Billy to do the half time draw so we can all point and laugh at him
CUFC have the home dressing room etc
Hold the Hartlepool supporters back for 30 mins at the end, for "safety" reasons
Charge them £300 for "damage" they have done to a seat (that was probably broken in 1997)
Collect 3 points and head back to civilization

If we did get St James', I think it's very doubtful the majority of it would be open, much more likely that they'll do what Preston have and only open 2 stands.

When using other clubs grounds, are CUFC getting to keep all profits from the matches, or are the host club taking a %, match day costs could also eat up a big portion of or revenue at the bigger stadiums.

And i've been so impressed with lack of 's so far. Shame on you.

Yes supposed to be an announcement tommorow well that's the rumour round these parts.

I'm pretty sure its going to be announced that it is postponed till Tuesday 2 Feb as the police can't provide the numbers having already booked time off. It would have be announced now if they had got a ground sorted. 3,500 a a cold wet night rather than 15k at St James Park.

I'd agree around 15k would be realistic.

Over ten thousand Carlisle fans travelling to see Hartlepool seems unlikley. A lot of people would like to see us play Newcastle at St James but the Monkeyhangers doesn't have the same attraction.

There's also a chance of a fair few people from the north east who don't have an allegiance to either team being interested in the game, especially with Gilliead doing as well as he's doing.

Quite a few Newcastle fans would go to get their football fix Im sure

Don't be surprised if you hear nothing for days on end. It seems you get more press releases out of North Korea than you do from CUFC.

15k is very realistic I think. I think we would easily take 8 to 10k and a few from newc then the monkey boys

Am I being cynical in thinking they won't announce anything about this game until after the Deepdale game?

It makes it more likely in my eyes that it may well be at St James'. They might not want to take away from ticket sales for this Saturday by announcing a more glamorous venue for the next one.

If they come out tomorrow and say it's off then more people may make the effort to get to Preston on Saturday. Announce a match at Newcastle and some people will keep their powder dry for that one.

Let's look at this realistically...

This week is pretty much taken up with continuing flood clean-up, setting up some form of systems to run the Club from temporary offices and organisational stuff for the game at Preston on Sat.

Next week is Xmas week. Xmas Eve is the Thurs, early finish. Xmas day on Fri. We play at Accrington on Sat. Sun then leads into a Bank Hol Mon, the day before the Hartlepool match is due. Realistically there's only the Mon to Weds to sort ticketing and travel.

Given matches on Jan 2nd and 10th are already announced, then unless there's some massive breakthrough very quickly, the Hartlepool game can only be heading for a postponement?
