TOPIC: Interview with Nixon next week

He would surely would have not agreed to this interview if he didn't have some answers or some new news on investment or the ground.
He promised to be more open and deal with the media far more and that turned out to be rubbish as the club have all but pulled down the shutters on communication since the last time he was on and got a hard time.
Everything is so secretive and insulting so why the change of heart now? This will no doubt be an easier ride than last time he was on the radio but there are still questions to be answered. By 10am, will we be any the wiser as to what the heck is going on down there or did he just agree because he knew the new CEO was to be appointed to make life easier for him to bat away the concerns of the fans?
The amount of rumours, anger and lack of trust could all have been avoided with a bit of openness and communication from the club.
We are about to find out.
My fear is he will continue in the same vein and we will be none the wiser afterwards. Here goes...

Billionaire talk now... Nixon squirming obviously. "We had interest from a foreign investor" implying that investor is not a billionaire and no one has ever said he is apart from Vice President. However he then said that he googled the billionaire then interpreted him as a billionaire but might not be.

Clear as mud.

"I last spoke 4 weeks ago to an individual. In March we nearly put an ultimatum. Then we did put an ultimatum. At the end of April we were told that they are still interested."

AJ has had some of his loans repaid out of the cup run money. Well I never!!

Nixon says BBCRC has broken trust with him based on previous interview. "People let me down in a bad way and I don't trust the way you are operating"

This has been an absolute nightmare for Nixon. If it was intended to be a part repair job he has completed f**d it (as expected).

Bet the media team at the club are embarrassed.

Intentionally or not he really sells the club short with his comments. Taking about potential and crowds. Patronising stay away folk as glory hunters coming to see everton. Half of these people or more would come back if cufc tried hard to get them along with success on the pitch.
This is an opportunity to big up the potential fan base we all know we have. Another chance lost and our owner paints a picture of a small town club happy with 10th in league two.

Just excused AJ's obscenity on the basis of an adrenalin rush.

Compared us with yeovil size wise. Give me strength. Rotherham might be a better comparison. People want to hear positivity. We know the championship or premier league is a world away but for goodness sake don't smash the dream on live radio.
That's one of my biggest critisms of the club. This constant talking down. No wonder people aren't coming if the owners seem happy with the current status.

He states the time scale for ground development and investment has no deadline so expect more of the same for the next 5 years or more. As I feared, a missed opportunity yet again.

So if a place in town had been proposed for a new stadium..and it flooded why not name it if its been knocked on head...

Only other things that were moderately interesting where that some of the debt was paid back with the cup runs but no details on how much and it sounds like Lapping *did* take legal action.

No mention of the Fansrep position. Interesting.

How many supporters' questions were asked? half a dozen? I sent in four and the one put to him was the "easy opener" Zeller did a reasonable job, but backed off a few times when he could have pushed a bit more.

So it's our fault as fans for the poor communication ah i see!

Well it looks as though I'm going to be very controversial but I found a fair few positives in that.

We appear to be staying at Brunton Park for the foreseeable - tick, more than happy with that. I'd love a shiny new ground but not stuck out in the wilds a la Colchester and not stuck in the middle of a city that has pretty awful traffic problems on a normal Saturday without football traffic as well.

Offices are moving to the other side of the ground - tick, glad that the Pioneer stand is going to be occupied, about time.

Part of the CEO's job is going to be working with and involving fans - tick, that desperately needs to happen.

I was disappointed the fan rep wasn't mentioned but maybe that has been handed over to the CEO to deal with, we shall see.

Regarding the none take overs. I'm not going to comment, I can't, I don't have the knowledge of such things to come to an informed decision. I do know the board room needs shaking up, with new dynamic ideas that will encourage fans back to the club.

Regarding the discontent from fans. I do think it is more widespread than JN realises. However I don't think it is as widespread as some people on this messageboard thinks. Wander through the crowd at a match and most want to talk about players, about tactics, about wins. Many will say they aren't interested in the other stuff. A fair few say they come to football to relax, not to get involved in the politics.

I posted after the fans rep debacle wondering where we as fans go from here. On reflection I think we do what we always have., We carry on, we moan when things are wrong, we hope things get better but in the end we carry on.

To be honest I haven't listened to it as have been in a PLC audit clearance meeting-far less interesting of course.

Did I get a mention?

I did ask for a retraction on the accusations-we had a meeting with lawyers and were unable to agree anything which made a difference and frankly I had no desire to pursue a legal action against my own club.I don't think either side won-I backed off for the reason above-you don't sue your own football club

I actually enjoyed Nixon's interview. He is a very slick operator and every word generally has a deeper meaning. Well worth listening to when it gets repeated.

I agree there were some positives bumble. -no new investment
-rejection of what seem to be sensible approaches and agressive view on the Trust

On the plus side,new CEO-let's give the guy a chance.

Laffy, Nixon described the Trust's £2m investment plan as a hostile proposal and I think he and AJ have treated it as a declaration of war. There was lots of talk today about local investors putting money into the club. Let's see what the Trust have to say about that.

I don't know much about it but offering £2m of investment is hardly hostile-I would have thought offering something for the AJ loans is right,morally if nothing else,but the equity has no real value in my view and ultimately only the Trust have paid for equity-the other shares were handed over for nothing.

My offer still looks like good value after all the other efforts!
