For me what makes a forum interesting is the wide ranging number of different opinions. Everyone can contribute their own thoughts to the discussion and it's interesting to read them. On echo chambers like Reddit, there is rarely any such meaningful discussion. People curate and optimize their posts to gain maximum approval from other users, and repeat whatever the popular narrative in that echo chamber is. It's pathetic, and I can't help wonder how sad and desperately insecure people are if they are so reliant on validation from others.

I've never blamed Jim or Nigel for getting Barry's posts removed. I've asked the mods if they were involved and that's a fair question considering the timing of their letter to Barry. I assumed that if the Trust were involved, it would be Jim who handled it. When you pointed out Nigel Davidson does the diversity stuff, I wondered could it be him.

Say what you want about me but I am happy to post my genuine thoughts and opinions on stuff, knowing that a lot of it might be unpopular. I don't fish for compliments or approval unlike 99% of reddit and twitter.

Well that just shows how truly ignorant you really are then, as I am currently employed in the private sector. And I work hard, because I am treated well. My philosophy is that you get what you pay for, so any employer who is only prepared to pay minimum wage just gets my minimum effort. Current employer pays more and treats staff well, so am happy to go the extra mile.

As for reading material, I get the Financial Times each day and I don't think you could call that "socialist crap" at all.

It's a nicer atmosphere in general. Employees are treated with respect, made to feel valued, and in return are more willing to go the extra mile. A good lesson for the Mike Ashley types who pay the minimum they can get away with, treat staff like shit, while expecting them to devote their life to the job.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Reading about economics, or any subject, increases your knowledge and your understanding of that subject. Looking at porn doesn't physically make you a porn star

I've seen your type before Laffy, businessmen with more front than Brighton used to people hanging on their every word. The second someone challenges or disagrees with you on an issue you get quite vicious and attack them personally (like starting a thread attacking them!) and expect that they'll back down, because you're used to people kowtowing to you in the business world. Interesting. For about 5 minutes, it seemed I was banned. Wasn't allowed to post any replies or create new threads. Now suddenly the issue has resolved itself. A naughty mod grabbed the banstick before having it taken away by the more responsible mods perhaps? Or another software glitch? Where is that much vaunted EasyDiscuss support to help resolve the plethora of software glitches plaguing this site?
