Will have been a lot of years that we don’t travel down South West England

Bet we draw Torquay or Plymouth in the cup

First section of the Carabao is split into north and south I think.

Crawley have just signed last seasons League 2 top scorer Dom Telford from Newport.

Big statement of intent from them.

Crawley have just announced Telford.

Not quite sure how they’ve managed that, top scorer in L2 last season.

Not often you manage to downgrade from Newport!

Should be a good first game of the season :D

Edit - beat me to it crunch..

Everyone thinks there’ll struggle, but I think their model is solid and will bring huge investment.

Will see

Always pretty telling where a player ends up in regards to how good he actually is. Normally 25 league goals would automatically result in a move to a higher league or to a club with mega money for their level, the fact he’s moved to a less fashionable club in the same league is pretty telling.

Previous 7 seasons as a pro he scored 14 goals, a great 7 months where he bagged 24 was followed by 1 goal in his last 13 games. Suspect he hit a purple patch in an otherwise non-descript career.

Throwing so much money around…

In trouble if they don’t go up again this season.

Probably a fair assessment. I think Telford is a clever player who based on his body shape you'd think would never make a footballer. He needs good service and with Newport's no.9 Baker Richardson off to Crewe and Finn Azaz probably not returning on loan again from Villa, his prospects at Newport looked unexciting. A 3 year deal is fantastic for him even in League 2.

I thought he played well against us. He was very good at making a yard of space in a tight area. Nadesan was best for us running at defenders then laying off to Yates in the box. Telford will be able to recreate that. He's not going to be an aerial threat though.

Telford and azaz will be big losses for Newport. Both good footballers.

The first time in a number of years we’re not at the bottom of this, we’ll be even higher if Devitt is offered a deal.

Reasonably happy with the released and retained players, with 2/3 further additions before the 30th July you’d like to think we have a better squad than we did 12 months ago.

You can see a lot of the players released never actually played that many minutes. The core of the squad is there, 7 of our 8 most regular players to be precise.

This is also a very interesting fixture chart with each game rated on difficulty by taking the average predicted league position from the bookies odds.

17th prediction for us apparently..

Bradford city carrying a big squad of first team players, going all in on promotion this year.

Brad Halliday possibly a player we were interested in

Wouldn’t be surprised if we took a look at Oscar Threlkeld, he’ll be out the door at Bradfud.

Can play RB, CB and CDM.

A slightly better version of Whelan.

Looks like Bradford City and Walsall philosophy this season to do well is to sign up as many players as they can so there’s none left available for other teams in League 2

Tomi Adeloye joining Swindon. Looked at by a lot of clubs, lets see if he is up to league standard.

Not especially impressed with Bradford’s signings tbh.

Vadaine Oliver has had a pretty mixed bag of a career so far with a couple of relegations on his CV and I don’t rate him that highly.

Didn’t realise Doncaster had signed Lee Tomlin until I saw his antics on Saturday. Regardless, he’s a better signing than anyone Bradford have picked up.

If I was offered Oliver or Tomlin I’d take Oliver every time. Tomlin was class early on in his career, at Peterborough and Middlesbrough, but his career’s been in freefall pretty much ever since. Struggled for fitness coupled with the fact he’s an idiot means he’s turned into a bit of a nomad in football terms. Oliver’s a decent centre forward at this level.

His sending off was very funny well done to the Ref
I like the look of Raging Blue post ( 3 weeks ago) showing League 2 Fixture difficulty. After the first 10 games, we should be up in the top 3!!

Colchester have signed a decent looking Irish goalkeeper, Kieran O'Hara. Fortunately he's not up to match fitness yet for our game on Saturday.
