December 2019 General Election Thread

There will be a lot of tactical voting in this election.

The most important general election in decades in this country, if not ever?

And the two main candidates are quite appalling.

We're doomed.

Yes there will be a big choice

Keith Vaz-rent boy and coke(they were late interior decorators party)
Dianne Abbott-ex trophy lay of Corbyn party
Corbyn-Marxist and CND and friend of IRA party
McDonnell-IRA friend and Marxist party
Ian Lavery-Labour chairman with conviction for football hooliganism, and alleged Miner’s Fund fraud party
Emily Thornberry-anti white van man and English flag party

In the interests of balance,I will do a similar list for the Tories.

Tactical voting might be a challenge in this one

To be frank, they probably represent us better than most.

I do like Nigel Evans and Carolyn Flint-they have remembered who pays them.Also Labour firebrand Ronnie Campbell-a man of principle amongst a sea of mediocrity and self serving rubbish.

Its a one policy, brexit, GE a rather strange one.

If thats all it was the conservatives would probably get my vote but i detest their policy on universal credit/pip and if they get back in there'll push through more harsh policies against the most vunerable. I like a lot of Labours policies but on brexit No - However you vote for who will help you.

This is really a 2nd brexit referendum but remember whoever wins will likely be in for 5 years - I think another hung parliament with lib dems increasing/ labour decreasing and maybe a couple of brexit party MPs. Same shit again and probably have another brexit referendum as the new parliament can't make a decision - BoJo will still be PM

Don't think we'll ever see another 5 year government with a hung parliament. Too much movement between parties means that majorities become minorities and they can't get anything through parliament. All it takes is for one policy to split the ranks or piss off the coalition party and you're stuck.

Should be an interesting few weeks.

Not as much as this one will be - The main parties stood on manifestos to honour the referendum and get us out. All said we'd be out by March 2019.

We've a remain party now, lib dems, who will put us back in (We're not out yet) without a referendum.

Big mistake there are a lot more important issues than brexit but this will be dominated by it.

You'd have to be clinically insane to vote Labour!

Have to say, Bojo is far from perfect, Jezza maybe a decent bloke, but certainly not a PM, and Labour are a disaster area. His r/h man is dangerous, Jezza would be better off without him.

LibDem's will say owt, sadly they will get a few protest votes and Labour voters, and will do better than they deserve.

Dark horse has to be Farage, they have done allot of campaigning in Labour Brexit areas.

It's not going to be about who's policies you like the most, it will be whose you hate the least.

I remember the headline in the Telegraph when they dropped the homosexual age of consent to 16 from 18.

I see nothing wrong with aligning the voting age but it’s a bit late to do it now!

Don't necessarily agree with lowering the voting age, but 18 does seem a bit arbitrary when you can drive at 17 and join the army at 16.

That little poisonous carrot Sturgeon lowered the age to 16 thinking all the teens would be there to help get Scotland independence. They didn't.
I think the Tories are scared of the unknown with the possibility of the youth going against them as for every William Hague teenager, there is ten like Kevin and Perry. JC will be willing to take that risk as he is unlikely to win without a huge shift in public opinion.

Election! I ask you. A pointless waste or time. I think straight forward ordinary men on their living Eaton should by rights be given a seat in the house.

The good thing is, I think we all know we are being spun a yarn by whoever we vote for, the young ones still have faith.

The World is a crock of sxxte at the moment, it appears after watching last nights Panorama, the best market to be in is Drugs and Gold.

I suppose us mere mortals will have to settle for a good old argument about the NHS, we are a naive lot.

You have to get a parent's or guardian's permission to join the army at 16.

So taking that to its logical conclusion, 16 year olds would have to get permission to vote

You can pay income tax at any age. Child actors for example can pay tax if they earn enough however young they are. Should a child be allowed to vote if the kid is 8 year old and earning enough from acting in a Harry Potter film?

And 16 year old soldiers are not put on the front line.

On second thoughts maybe this is a good idea. Corbyn could become PM, but he wouldn't be allowed to vote.

I can guarantee that it was the youth that googled that!

The over 35's know what it is - yes we read books and studied and follow world affairs rather than get our knowledge from polarised FB shit!

The majority of people that voted for brexit wanted a hard brexit - I wouldn't let anyone vote without an economic, sociology, and politics qualification which I doubt you have!

I certainly wouldn't give a vote to a generation Z who hadn't even left his nest!

Liberals are not likely to back up anything they promise, they won't get in anyway

Independents are a waste of a vote unless you know they're capable of actually representing your area well in Westminster which is unlikely against the big parties

After the last few years of Tory rule given what they have achieved or more to the point failed to achieve it beggars belief that anyone would wish to give them another five years in office to finish off the destruction of our once proud country. Not a fan of Corbyn but really it is time for change. It should be about policies not people.

Re younger voters, most of the current cabinet do seem to have a mental age of about 16 to be fair.
