What are you listening to today? was created by newcarlislefan
Well, I thought it'd be good to have a thread for people to put on what they are listening to at the moment. Always good to gear what other people are listening to as nothing like hearing a new band or record you don't know and it seems lots of you good people love your music.
So, to kick off I've had New Gold Dream by Simple Minds on repeat today. Can't say I cared for their later stuff but this record, well, it's just great and reminiscent of the shimmery, hazy Summer days of youth when you had not a care in the world.
What else have you all been listening to recently?

For me it is The Undertones - Teenage Kicks Best Of and Hall & Oates - Change Of Season.

The Undertones album is amazing but the Hall & Oates one is not very good to be honest but I decided that there was too many clart bands and albums around these days to I would go back and check out things that I missed and am mainly getting though a new album a day but giving it a good listen.

She was lovely, wasn't she? Water on Glass is a great song and I remember thinking just how odd a song Cambodia was after stuff like Kids in America.

Good idea NCF, and New Gold Dream is one of my favourite albums of all time, not a single duff track on it. Currently listening to Kyuss while getting ready to head out and see The Doors Alive at The Brickyard. Mixed feelings about tribute bands but will make exceptions if they are the best of their kind, as TDA supposedly are, and if I've got no chance of seeing the real thing due to unreconciliable split/death.

Yes I saw the Australian Pink Floyd for similar reasons. Expected little but they were excellent. I'm missing the game tomorrow to see Propaganda play in London on Saturday. I think it might be the 1st time they've played A Secret Wish since the 80s - another classic from the period up with New Gold Dream.

The very one Harold and Madge's marriage song in Neighbours - didn't fare as well as Angry Anderson chart wise mind you :)

Well worth a listen, generally gets a five star review and is worth every one - Save What You Can is a hidden gem

This Is The Sea must be one of the best records of the 80s. The trumpets on, ahem, Trumpets are wonderful. "Your love feels like high summer." Come on.

Yea your dead right NCF, opening track 'Don't Bang The Drum' to the title track itself wonderful stuff. Just a shame they've never done anything as good since, apart from the odd track.
Oh and while I'm at it the live version of 'Savage Earth Heart' from 'Live Adventures' utterly magnificent. :cheer:

My forever loves will always be Queen,Oasis and The Beatles, sadly to be ruined by all and sundry in X Factor ‘Best of British’ week. My rule for this is that if anybody tries to cover Queen it Beatles, they should be taken out by a rifle attached to the camera, like Bernie the Bolt.
