So, to kick off I've had New Gold Dream by Simple Minds on repeat today. Can't say I cared for their later stuff but this record, well, it's just great and reminiscent of the shimmery, hazy Summer days of youth when you had not a care in the world.
What else have you all been listening to recently?

I had the displeasure of listening to some woman trying to sing called two lips this afternoon, what a load of shite.

Good idea NCF, and New Gold Dream is one of my favourite albums of all time, not a single duff track on it. Currently listening to Kyuss while getting ready to head out and see The Doors Alive at The Brickyard. Mixed feelings about tribute bands but will make exceptions if they are the best of their kind, as TDA supposedly are, and if I've got no chance of seeing the real thing due to unreconciliable split/death.

Yes I saw the Australian Pink Floyd for similar reasons. Expected little but they were excellent. I'm missing the game tomorrow to see Propaganda play in London on Saturday. I think it might be the 1st time they've played A Secret Wish since the 80s - another classic from the period up with New Gold Dream.

This Is The Sea must be one of the best records of the 80s. The trumpets on, ahem, Trumpets are wonderful. "Your love feels like high summer." Come on.
If ever you're feeling down chuck on Rise by Doves. Must have seen them half a dozen times and always wonderful.

Did you see that fantastic live version on Sky Arts, I think. It was the Boss tribute night and I think it was The Ghost of Tom Joad with the guy from Rage Against The Machine. It was staggering.

It's a good record that London Grammar one. Do you do the music at the ground?
